Man we have had some bad players on this team, that list is like a walk down memory lane of frustration

Stalock would still be an improvement over Hiller.

I think the point is that we could pick him up now and have both Berra and have used the 2nd rounder while Colorado has neither.

But trading Berra for a 2nd is an amazing trade regardless of who we use the pick on. A 2nd is a very valuable commodity. Berra is available for free right now.

Not so sure - Stalock has a few seasons of sub .900 SV%. Yikes!
Also, if he were better a team could get him cheap instead of Hiller which would mean no spot for Stalock. If you are thinking Stalock for next season, BT can worry about a FT starter and backup in the offseason once Ortio's try out is done.
Also, Hiller is a known playoff choker, almost impossible to move to a contender IMO.

Exactly. Also, people need to have patience with Hunter.

Yeah, that's more like it.
I wonder what Flames have in Poulin, he has shown flashes of brilliance.

Shocker - Bourque on waivers. My only question is - what took so long?

Not that I think we will claim any of them, but Berra makes a little bit on sense given our situation heading into next year and I think he is capable of being a solid backup

No thanks. Berra is signed for two more years IIRC

Pass, pass, pass. I have seen enough mediocre goalies in a Flames uniform these last five years to last me a lifetime!

I wouldn't mind picking up Berra again as he did well (as does Ortio) under Sigalet.
Berra has been so misused and treated like garbage under Roy that I'm sure he's the happiest right now to be on waivers. Pickard is Roy's golden boy and Berra could have shutout out a team every game this year and still managed to lose his job. He played great earlier when Varlamov went down and played great during his AHL stint. He is a decent goalie, still very teachable and now coming into form with the North America style of game. In the correct situation, I think he ends up a solid backup, maybe a 1B type of guy.

That would drive Hartley nuts I think. Berra/Ortio next year? Free falling for Svechnikov!

$1.45M for one more year on Berra. Would you trade a 7th rounder (or more ideally a very weak prospect) to Col if they retained ~$300k? Would mean there is virtually no penalty for us to bury him, and Col saves a bit compared to burying themselves.
We need to add two NHL goalies next year, and this might at least give us leverage so we don't have to rush and sign a bad deal.
Ward, Reimer, Scrivens or Enroth...I think at least one of them will find themselves without a dance partner on July 10th (and at worst Montoya, Khudobin, Lindback, Raanta, etc.).
Reimer is the only one that has a chance to be a long term solution if we want to contend, but I think the answer probably lies elsewhere. I definitely don't want to go down a 5x5 route for him. I'd rather go into next season with $3-4M payroll for two below average goalies (always a chance that someone will go Dubnyk/Bobrovsky/Smith for you). A cheap, competent backup is probably going to be necessary to pluck a soon-to-be expensive 1B from another team (of course, that needs to wait until a certain date before you can trade a new UFA).
Another spitballing idea, but Berra + Wideman for Lehtonen? We could even go crazy capology on it and retain 50% of Wideman if they retain 25% of Lehtonen or something. Gives them more room in the short term and makes the Lehtonen contract suck less for us in it's last year.
I don't think KL will lead us to the promised land, but he'd plug the hole better than any other foreseeable option.

All I know is that I don't think I could handle another year of terrible goaltending. Please fix this.
