Became one of my favourite Flames over his years here. Thanks for all the memories Jiri, I'll always remember that slapshot goal against the Kings in the clincher last season. So awesome.

My older kid has a pair of red socks, he calls them his Hudlers. Best speech ever. Gonna miss him.

I believe his work with our young guys will benefit the Flames well beyond the contract he signed. Provided some excitement with Johnny and Monny last year which the city has lacked in many years.

All in all, with his work here and the return we got, the Flames definitely got full value from this signing. For that, I thank you Jiri!

Good luck in Florida!

Sad to see him go either way. I think the room will feel the loss.

Hudler will be missed on the top line by Gaudreau and Monahan

Edit: Image by Dave Elston. I merely changed the names to reflect the present.

Jiri, you are a "shoe-in" to be remembered as one of the greatest fan favourites!

Eugene Principe says hi, too.

Hudler did a lot for this organization moving forward with his mentorship of Monahan and Gaudreau which will benefit both of them immensely. Agree with Bingo - best free agent signing in a long time by the Flames.

Hudler proved a ton of posters wrong who felt he could not be an impact player.

I'm sure get 4+ million salary elsewhere, but if not, love to bring him back in the summer in the 3.5-4 million range. Highly, highly unlikely, at that price, but one can hope.

Fantastic value for the contract. He was a great player for this team and did a ton for the development of Monahan and Gaudreau.

So does Hudler take over Jim Peplinkski as Calgarys greatest #24 ?

Very strong free agent signing. In hindsight, he generally earned his AAV salary in years 1 and 2, give or take. Last year, 8th in league scoring and leading a young team to the playoffs, he was one of the best values in the league. Fell off this year but I suspect he will help Florida make some noise.

All the best Hudler. You helped make some great memories last year.
