Any chance we flip a D prospect plus Wideman for Hamonic?
Brodie-Hamonic
Giordano-Hamilton
Wotherspoon-Nakladal
Smid
I can dream, Can't I?

Hamonic or Chychrun seem like the most likely answers to our fourth top 4 d-man if Treliving wants to solve that in the next few months.

Chychrun? Don't bet on it. This is Bob Hartley here, we'll be lucky if Chychrun is allowed on the top 6 within four seasons.

A guy like Marc Staal would be a perfect fit to round out the top 4.
A left hand shot, veteran shut down D man with size and mobility, but still young enough to be effective for many more years.
Giordano - Brodie
M. Staal - Hamilton
Of course, he's probably not available, and if he was it'd likely cost a fortune to trade for him.
Also, some serious cap would have to be moved out, like pretty much all of Wideman, Smid and Engelland for it to make sense cap structure wise.

Hopefully by this time next year, when Wideman/Smid/Engelland all have their contracts on the verge of expiring, one or two D prospects are powering their way onto the roster like some sort of unstoppable force.

lol we could get marc staal for free. Hes been horrible this year and carries a big contract until 2021 i think. He has negative value right now. this is coming from hf rangers btw they said it themselves

Too bad "hf rangers" isn't the GM of the New York Rangers?
Jesus anyways.

Any defence that gets rid of Engelland and Smid sooner rather than later is good in my books

No, we don't want him and he's a cap dump for them. Staal's possession stats since Anton Stralman became a Bolt border on Kris Russell territory. And Russell even skates better. Yep. I would rather re-up Kris Russell. Not that I advocate re-upping Kris Russell. Let's not do that. Staal was carried by Stralman in his prime.

I just can't see Hartley trusting an 18 year old defensemen, much less in a top 4 role. He handles a 22-year old defenseman in Hamilton with more kid-gloves than he was getting as a 20 year old on a President's Trophy winner. Even if Chychrun is NHL-ready I would expect him to finish out his Junior career and then the second he shows any semblence of panic in the NHL he'll be down in AHL to season.

It seems that winning does not matter at all to you. Staal is a top 4 D-man playing every game for a team that has pretty well qualified for the playoffs before the trade deadline.
He was a top 4 d-man on the President Trophy team last year as well as their 19 playoff games
2 years ago he was a top-4 d-man for the regular season as well as their 25 playoff games.
He is making 5.7 M for the next 5 years ... when he will be as old as Gio is when his 6.7 / year deal kicks in. Gio is still looking to play his first NHL playoff game as a top-4 d-man as is Hamilton making the same money as Staal.

Winning matters to me. Just winning by not getting hemmed in, not getting shelled, etc.

So there is no correlation between a goalies sv % and
1) having a clear look at the shots
2) having the Defense winning some contested rebounds
