I think Bob might have to break up the top pairing now. An all AHL bottom pairing is not a good idea, and Hamilton and Engelland aren't good partners either IMO

Very "conspiracy theory-esque" but interesting.
Maybe I'm confused, but how are the Flames saving any money sitting Russell?

I'd probably pair Brodie with Engelland, it has worked before.

5 - 27
7 - 29
26 - 33

Gives them three L/R pairings too.

Flames aren't, but an acquiring team is saving cap hit and salary if he is acquired on the trade deadline day rather than before.

Hamilton and Engelland looked good together last game I thought. It is pretty whacky that we play two left shooters together and two right shooters together.

Gio-Hamilton
Brodie-Engelland
Wotherspoon-Nakladal

That's probably how I'd go. Lean on the top 4 heavily. We'll probably just get Gio-Brodie, Hamilton-Engelland

I could be wrong, but I believe that Wotherspoon-Nakladal was the top pairing in Stockton. If that's the case, then the familiarity might allow Hartley to give them a decent amount of minutes.

I have seen nothing in Wotherspoon to make me think he has a future in the NHL. Hope he proves me wrong but I'm going to be terrified when he's on the ice.

Sorry, I meant for the team that could be acquiring him.

Edit: Sureloss even beat me to my own correction. The man/woman/operating system is amazing!

I'm looking forward to seeing this bottom pairing in action. Were they a regular pairing with Stockton?

Nope, it was Kylington-Nakladal if I recall correctly.

Nice, I'm excited to see Wotherspoon! Personally I feel he'd be better suited with Engelland on the bottom pairing when Russell is back that Smid or Nakladal.
