Not for this year, but I would not mind the Flames signing Antti Raanta this off-season.
Or Hudler and Hiller for a signed Raanta? Or a second rounder in 2017 if Raanta doesn't sign here?

I agree. And I dont consider it tanking either, the dream is over, lets see what we've got in some of our prospects.

Actually for the rest of this season I'm not sure it matters who's in net. Hiller has been abysmal this year and Ortio a complete mess. Ramo was giving the team in and around average goaltending but with him gone winning games is going to be tough.
Glad the Flames never "tank" but this injury just about cinches an erosion down the standings a few spots.
I'd leave it for now, but they need to do something this summer to get their goaltending fixed. They have other issues but I put goaltending at the very top of the totem pole.

Why would we keep Hiller if we can get even a 7th for him? He is done in Calgary so let him go and see what we have in the youngsters. Same goes for trading as many veteran expiring contracts that we can. I would be happy to move Hudler, Jones, Colborne for some assets and see what we have in Porier, Grant, Agostino

Ortio has not shown much this year in the AHL or the NHL, Poulin has pretty good stats in the AHL this year but hasn't shown much in the NHL in the past. I think people maybe forget that Poulin is only 1 year older than Ortio. I think they should give both guys a shot if Hiller continues to be poor. Poulin is only 25 and may be worth a look as well since we got him for a bag of beans

Ben Bishop or Fredrik Andersen should be the teams' two top trade targets this summer.
Also, holy alliteration, Batman!

Ditto.
Defence is okay, more or less set, some flux, but there are pieces there.
Forwards, okay, could use some filling in but its okay, there are pieces there.
Goaltending? I've seen smoking craters with more foundational substance than our goaltending.

Eh, I don't really like Ben Bishop's playing style. Very similar to Hiller but just in a bigger frame. Is Andersen that much better than Ramo?

I'd trade Hiller for Bernier if that's all it took.
I'd sooner give Bernier a chance for 1 year, than spend too much money on the free agent market (I really don't want them to spend $$ and term on Reimer).
If Hiller for Bernier doesn't work for Toronto (who I imagine just want to move Bernier to get away from the 1 year remaining on his deal), then just roll with whatever rubbish we have laying around (Hiller, Ortio, Poulin) and then target someone on a short term deal this summer if nothing else comes up. Cam Ward on a two year deal would make me happy.

Nope. Ramo 2.0.

Andersen is a bit better than Ramo.
Bishop is a big body, and he has been playing very well in Tampa with a shallow defense corps in front of him. I like him. He took Tampa to the finals last year...

I would not be surprised to see Ramo back next season, especially if we do not see anything done by end of first week of free agency

That's like saying Hartley doesn't want to shoot himself in the foot, then proceeding to immediately take a gun and shooting himself in the foot

Would Hudler + Ortio + 1st + 2nd + conditional 2nd be enough to grab Bishop out of Tampa?
The condition on the 2nd is if Hudler walks.

Our first should be untouchable at this point.
But yes that easily gets it done and is over payment IMO

I would not do that deal, the 1st is the deal breaker for me

Story of this season.
Two things:
1. If the Flames had even average Goaltending and
2. If the Flames had even average Special Teams
We'd be comfortably in the playoffs.

Talk about overpayment. We don't even have the asset of an extra second rounder too.

I don't understand why Tampa would trade it's starting goalie before the play offs and go with 2 goalies that have a combined 33 games played in Gudlevski and Vasilevskiy

Whatever gives us the best chances of getting the highest possible draft pick
Hiller is basically the worst goalie in the league, give or take.
