Good players outside the top three as well, to avoid the predictable panic.

Hopefully Ramo's recovery goes well.
How did the Flames control the goalie trade market? No one wanted any of our goalies before.

His contract is up. If they dont re-sign him then he doesnt come to training camp.

Training camp, any training camp is what he meant I'd imagine.

This effectively ends Karri Ramo's time as a Calgary Flame in my eyes. I can't imagine we'll be banking on a goalie who won't even be able to play hockey again until October.

We just need to bridge for a guy like Gilles
I agree with your first comment. If we can sign him at backup money.

But we need more than a bridge to Gillies. Who knows if he will turn into an NHL goalie, its still way too early to tell as he has played only a handful of pro games. BT should be looking at goalies that have long term potential. If Gillies develops, then we have a surplus of assets which is never a bad thing.

Tough break for Ramo. Probably misses out on a decent contract for next year as well. I see Calgary bringing him back on another one year deal to fight for a backup spot.

####ty news but with Hiller in net for the rest of the way we'll have a decent chance at a top 3 pick.

I disagree,

I feel the Flames might take another flyer on him, unless they can snag a major fish in the goalie market this summer he's really one of the best options in the UFA market.

I didn't have much left but that torpedos any hope for this year.

Sell at the deadline, see what some of the young guys have got, finish above the Oilers but beat them in the lottery.

That's my dream.

By the sounds of it, we were the one serious buyer for multiple potential sellers.

Ramo would have been a great option as our 1B/backup next year, depending on whom we signed to replace Hiller. But this injury creates a great deal of uncertainty. If the team can't trust that he could be ready for the start of the season, then they need to go out and sign two goalies. There is the potential this injury ends his Flames career, even if the team otherwise wanted to bring him back.

Terrible news for Ramo and the Flames.

Don't see us re-signing him now. We likely won't re-sign Hiller either.

Intrigued to see what happens now. Maybe we'll see what the market is like come the summer with free agency, as I can't see us trading away anything decent to get a decent goalie.

Really unfortunate injury. ACLs suck. I wouldn't be surprised if he's not ready to play by the start of next season, let alone having a training camp to prepare for it. Nightmare scenario for Ramo.

Although I've wanted him gone since the start of the year and still would prefer he not get re-signed this summer this sucks with how horrible Hiller has played most of the season. He might not have been as good as the Flames needed him to be but he had played pretty decent since getting called back up.

Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Asked whether he'd like to be back in Calgary next year, Ramo said "we'll see, it's not a bad option". #Flames

If he didn't get hurt they likely would have given him 3 years and a small raise. Now that he's hurt I wouldn't be shocked to see him offered another 1 year deal at the same rate to see if he can get healthy and back to form. Start him in the AHL where he can back up Gillies and the Flames can start next season with a new #1 and likely Poulin backing him up.
