Also (and sorry for the derail) but I don't remember it being a bad idea at the time, but after that he became just another player, bouncing around the league.

Sorry it looked like you were implying that Brewer was the last guy from 2002 still playing. If you were not... my bad.

Incidentally, Eric Brewer was the last man standing from that team, by a longshot. He appears to have retired after last season. So the question is, what the hell was Eric Brewer doing on the Olympic team?
He was the Kevin Lowe Roster Addition (TM).

Ha. I thought you were implying that Iginla got him on the team.

Also, , I did mean he was the last guy playing. Guess I missed a slightly obvious one.

Simon Gagne was the youngest player on the team at age 21 and he only just retired last season as well.

Simon Gagne also retired after Brewer. Pronger is technically not retired.

If I was rich and had the cash, I'd totally buy it and wear it around the office while playing the arrogant jerk.

That's right ladies, this is my Olympic medal.

Did you win it

Nope, but I certainly did earn it, then I'd powerslam my boss through the coke machine.

This might be a nice alternative if the medal is out of your price range.

The medal itself doesn't have Belfour's name stamped on it or anything, it's virtually identical to the medals anybody else on the team would have gotten so in that respect, it makes it a nice keepsake as it could have been given to any of the team members and ended up his by random chance.

The only place where his name appears is on a piece of paper in the box which doesn't really matter.

Yeah there is.

Hockey card packs selling for over 20K, one with a minimum bid of 75K but I think my favourite are:
Modanna's 1000th point, 1000th game motorcycle.
Filpulla's Stanley Cup Pendant from the 2008 Wings. - Given to the wives/girlfriends of the players (misread this one at first)
Calgary Flames Legend Rick Tabaracci's game used goalie stick - Currently only $50.

Wasn't it Belfour's or Josef's medal that broke right after the game? Or do I have the wrong Olympics?

Of all people, you should be telling the ladies that you won it with a freakin' broken neck!

I mean, yes, it's a gold medal from an Olympics, that's sweet. But you didn't earn it, it's not yours, so what's the value of it?

Feels like collecting and displaying war medals. Other people did amazing feats and now I am displaying the recognition of those feats which I had absolutely nothing to do with...I just think it's cool I guess?

meh
Possibly this could be the reason why Belfour is selling the medal?

Ugh, I wish I wasn't poor. I'd snap up that Black hawks mask in a heartbeat. Along with the Blackhawks Jersey. Actually, I'd buy one of his Dallas Stars masks too. And some Blackhawks pads. Of god if I had money I'd be poor right after buying all of Eddie's stuff. Thank god I am poor.

He was and is my favorite player of all time.

I don't know why, but this Phil Sauve game used glove is intriguing to me...

Considering I've seen gloves at the used sports equipment store going for $100 or so, this would be really neat to have (and use!) if it really did go for $150.

Belfour has ~ $50 mln in career earnings:

If he's broke, that's ... Wow.
