Things definitely went from bad to worse this season but 18 months too late? He did coach the team to the playoffs the past 3 seasons and got them to the 2nd round of the playoffs the past 2 years. Last year around this time, he went nuts in practice and the team turned it around especially with Dubnyk playing in net.

As bad a coach as Yeo is I imagine he will get another head coaching gig in the NHL. I just hope it's for a Canadian team other than the Flames.

Yeo is the franchise coaching leader in win%. Can't knock that.

But for me it's tough for any coach when you have:

Vanek ($6.5 cap hit) on pace for about 20 to 23 goals
Pommenville ($5.75 cap hit) on pace for 10 goals

These guys are signed to be your leaders and have mailed it in.

Lemaire did almost as good with a roster of plugs and a small handful of good players. That team has a lot of highly paid talent and he wasn't getting them to their full potential. Not unlike the Kings situation when Sutter came in. They need a guy to like Sutter that can maximize the roster talent. He's a guy that should have been fired last season but was saved by a goaltender playing godly.

Overpaying for one-dimensional wingers can be deadly. Those aren't their only weapons though, Parise, Koivu, Granlund, Coyle, Zucker, they have over two lines of scoring forwards. How do they not get scoring from that core up front with their puck moving defense?

I think they could use some size/strength on defense. It seems like they have a lot of skill up front but scoring seems to be a problem. Kind of baffling. If it was here I think we'd be blaming the scoring woes on the coach.
