That all depends if Hiller continues his hot play. If he pulls a stinker I have no doubt Hartley would put in Ortio.

Norm!

This is a shame, since the poor start he's been really good.
Tough injury to see, my first thought was a fracture.

Well I guess it's time to make a move for a goalie. If there was an opportunity out there they were looking at.
I don't have faith in Hiller sustaining good play for more than a handful of games consecutively tbh. I hope he proves us all wrong though.

Poulin was bad in his last start, but Ortio has been bad almost all season. Ortio has been better of late, but still hasn't been as good as Poulin.
It depends on what the Flames want to do. If they are considering moving away from Ortio following the season, I would expect him to get the recall so they can get a better look at him to make a final judgement call.
Both options would likely only see time if absolutely necessary.

No matter who they call up at least Stockon team is at home for the 13 and 14th. That means the recall player is not that far from Arizona from wher the Flames are currently located .
The recall goalie should arrive in Nevada only hours after the rest of the team.

If they don't call up Ortio I can't see him staying in the organization past this year. Especially if his play has gotten better recently. Who knows, he could catch fire again and string together some good games if Hiller falters.
Part of me hopes Poulin gets called up so he can rock this bad boy:

I hope it is Ortio as well.
And I hope they play him. This is his NHL career and I'd like to think he'd respond well to it being his last shot with Calgary.

Yeah I suppose you can take a positive out of this in that the team may be able to find out before the offseason if Ortio is worth keeping around. We know Hartley will play Hiller as much as possible but it's inevitable that he will falter and Hartley's hand will be forced.

I was going to make a sarcastic comment about David Jones getting hurt, but shockingly he is 1 of 4 guys to play every game this year - Gio, Backlund, Hamilton are the others.
Too bad he's got terrible stats this year. He's playing himself into a Glencross situation where he's going to have trouble getting a contract next year.

Call up has to be Ortio i believe since Poulin doesnt have an NHL contract and they arent going to waste one of 50 on a guy that isnt part of the plan.

Poulin signed a 2 way NHL contract with the Islanders on Aug 11, 2015.
http://islanders.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=776737
he counts towards the 50 contract limit when the Flames traded for him
He is a pending RFA. Not sure if the Flames plan to keep him past this season, but they could.

Call up Poulin to sit on the bench and let Ortio get all the starts in Stockton.

I hope we trade for Ben Bishop. Even if he costs 6 million a year, it'll be worth it. This of course assuming Vasilevsky is their guy moving forward.
Hiller could back Vasilevsky up while anyone of Ortio or another young guy backs up Bishop for the Flames

Question:
If they call up Ortio and he stays with the Flames until after the deadline, will he have to be waived again to be sent to the minors?
I do know that there is only 5% chance that someone would pick him up.

Well Friedman takes in his 30 thoughts a couple weeks back saying that the Flames control the goalie market. Perhaps they decide to make a move now if Ramo is out long term?

Are there highlights of this play where the injury happened or Hiller's 5 on 3 save? I can't seem to find them on the NHL.com recap of the game.

This is kind of what I'm thinking. The injury may force the Flames into moving now.
Let' face it - neither Poulin nor Ortio is an attractive option right now.
