I would say it's probably considered SLIGHTLY less moral to wear leather than it was 20-30 years ago, but I don't think that in itself has made much of a difference. It's not like fur or anything, or other environmental missteps. I have heard a comment or two about it in the last ten years though, where I never heard it before.

As for Danier, I would agree it's a combination of lower quality of their specific brand compared to new brands, and an overall drop in the 'coolness' of leather coats. I don't think that second factor has a ton to do with moral attitudes though, just fashion and new choices.

Men's leather jackets and coats were big in the late 90s and haven't been since.

I have a leather jacket that my exgf got me about 15 years ago. Even though I haven't worn it in about 14 years, it still hangs in my closet. I keep thinking that it'll come in handy one day. I really have no idea for what. Acid rain? Halloween? I'm not sure, but one day I'll be glad I kept it.

I have a fantastic brown leather coat for winter. I love it.

If a cow is getting slaughtered it's waaaaay less cruel to throw that hide away!

The morals of wearing leather are just fine. The morals of wearing endangered animals or just the animal fur, or like shark fins, are not.

If only the Stampede were held in the late fall.

I honestly have nothing to contribute here, I just wanted an excuse to share a tasseled leather coat.

Make sure you get a well fitted coat or else it will be a misteak.

Didn't know they still existed. I don't know a single person my age that owns a leather jacket.

Don't know what fashion blogs people on here are reading that makes them authorities on fashion.

Leather bomber jackets were a trend about five years ago. Fitted leather jackets have been a trend for the last three years or so, but are now falling out of style.

Leather jackets for women are definitely in fashion.

Danier's problem is that they are old fashioned. When you walk into the store, the setup feels like it's the 80s. The kind of people who are dropping coin on those items want trendy music, edgy sales people etc,... People also want to layer leather, so a just leather store is problematic.

That being said, I bought a jacket there last year. Really nice and get a lot of compliments. I'm not a person who cares about branding or shopping experience though, which Danier totally lacks.

Those repro vintage models are pretty awesome. If you have like $3000.
