Does Enmax publish what their variable rate actually is, so we can compare apples to apples? ATCO says they charge Market + $0.01/kWh.

Also, what's the best source to find the current market rate, to decide if fixed or variable is the better option?

So is everyone floating both electricity and natural gas?

Yup. I haven't seen any signs in the years I've been watching where it made sense not to. I did lock in for a couple months back in April-July 2015. They had actually given me a warning of an electricity price spike when I had called in about something else, and told me I should lock in. Once it had passed I went back to floating. Even without that though, the average of the floating works out lower.

I thought that floating electricity and fixed gas was the way to go.

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

I think 5 years ago that made sense, but the past 2 or 3 years floating gas has always(or almost always) been well below the fixed rate. With no sign that gas prices are going up any time soon I'd be on floating.

For those that have switched, was Atco ultimately cheaper than Enmax w/ Easymax?

My actual usage doesn't seem to matter much with Enmax: gone for an entire month in the summer: $130; a cold January when I was home: $200.

I asked Enmax about that. It is going to be a line item so the floating rate will stay the same. Carbon tax will be another line based on your usage. NO ESCAPE!

Saved $100 and my mom saved close to $140.

Maybe update the thread title for the offer so more people know about it?

My wife called in and did the call back option. Mom waited an hour and a bit.
