Moose are MEAN! Very aggressive animals!

Black bears are slightly more dangerous than raccoons though, I mean...once in awhile they get somebody good. Never heard of a raccoon fatality!

I was just worried becuase it was up by the houses. Who knows if some little girl walking her dog would stumble over them. Anyways I do love bears, just never been within 8 or 9 feet of one.

By the way, do black bear cubs normally have an orange bib of colouring?

I was cycling in Fish Creek when I came out of the valley by Evergreen Estates and came about 5 feet from running into a black bear cub.

The cub kind of chased towards me and then went towards the houses. As I was hopping a fence I saw the mother bear.

Fish Creek office is closed and so is Albert Fish and Wildlide. I left a message at Fish and Wildlife.

Should I phone the police as well?
I realize I'm a little late on this one, but I ran into both the mother and her cub there about 10 days ago. I'm sure the "officials" -- whoever they may be -- are well aware of them.

They're city bears now...probably too happy eating garbage to bother eating people.

Yeah bears are really nothing to be afraid of.... if you show them the respect they deserve much like any thing else. I work around bears every day and I know that the only time anything might go wrong would be if I did something to anger the bear. If I just go on my way and don't try to run away or something stupid like that the bear will likely just keep looking for berries and digging up roots or something like that.

They are a wee bit more dangerous than raccoons however.

Also from my experiences I would rather run into a grizzley than a black bear. For with a griz they are almost always predictable with a black bear they are a bit less predictable.

Try fly fishing and being in the water when a black bear charges across the river within 20 feet. I guarantee your waders will seem like they have a leak. Black/Grizz it don't matter. 2 steps and he was across the highwood. Thank god the dudes up stream had an air horn and he did a u turn and that I was down wind of Yogi.

I've found black bears to be more of a worry than grizzlies. I know grizzly bears are the big daddy of bears around here but the black bears are what seem to cause the most trouble.

better lock the truck doors tonight too.

Do black bears steal car stereos or something? I don't get it. [/b][/quote]
HAHAHAH..... Thats a good laugh to start my Monday.

I'm also a bear lover (please don't twist that into anything fotze) but I have to disagree saying you are safe unless you do something to anger the bear. If you accidently stumble into an area between a mother and her cubs, or end up cornering a bear, you can bet ripping you to shreds will cross its mind. And you can't blame it either. How many humans with a gun in their hand that see a bear stumble between them and their kids would let loose? (too many as far as I'm concerned)
