I'm not sure how to ask this in proper English, so I hope my question is clear enough;

For instance, would it be possible for the Flames to ask Monahan and Gaudreau to waive their possibles bonus and reward them with an (extra) (signing) bonus for their new contracts to avoid paying 2,7 million in performance bonus this year?

No, that's not possible. Existing contracts can't be changed.

If NHL All-Star MVP is a bona fide criterion for bonuses for some players, clearly in the dressing room the players should be sorting out who might fit in that category and then making sure the rest of the players make those guys look especially good.

There's only four players in the ASG who are still on their ELCs (Larkin, Ekblad, Gaudreau, and Gibson), and none of them should have any trouble hitting the maximum of four "A" level bonuses without the MVP.

Doesn't dumping Hudler get them under the cap this season even with the bonuses? Wasn't that the plan when Frolik got signed?

It seems that there was a mis-calculation as this was the year the Flames were going for it.... almost to the cap with a bunch of ELCs, Playoff rentals: Hudler/Jones and Russell and basically big UFA acquisitions Frolik and Hamilton.

Hard to imagine that the Flames team from the end of last year basically intact with addition Gio, Hamilton, Bennett and Frolik doing so poorly this season.
