It depends which way the wind is blowing. You either get the canola stink or the feedlot stink.

I remember during my first semester in Lethbridge, during a very hot September, I walked into my geography class first thing in the morning, stood at the door, scanning people, gauging their faces, looking for discussion on what that smell might be, nobody really noticed me staring, the class mostly populated by shy first years, and I blurted out, "Does anybody else smell that?!"

Can confirm in the Connaught/Beltline area I can smell it. I've been wondering if it had to do with a plumbing issue. It seems I smell it more indoors close to plumbing than outdoors (it smells the most rank when I am away for a few days and get back to my condo). I was surprised to hear others are smelling it too.

The smell is different than the straw barn smells of farms and smells different to the horrible odors by the treatment plant in Ogden. I have no idea what it is.
