The NHL usually switches game times that go head to head with NFL playoff games. The difference here is that the Carolina Panthers game is in Charlotte and the Hurricanes game is in Raleigh. The Flames-Hurricanes game is also a nationally televised game in Canada.

That is a lot of snow no matter where you are. A metre of snow in such a short span of time will make travel dangerous and difficult,

Sounds like Philly vs Islanders has been postponed tonight, as has tomorrow's Washington vs Pittsburgh game.

It started snowing here (DC) around 1pm yesterday and hasn't stopped. I grew up in Calgary and I only remember it getting this bad a couple of times.

That will suck for the Ducks if that game determines whether or not they make the playoffs. They play Saturday afternoon in Denver, then have to fly 1,500 miles to Washington to play less than a day later.

Their one saving grace is that the Caps play Saturday night in St Louis, so they have to fly home too, and the game will most likely be meaningless for the Caps, so they'll likely be resting their top players in the game against the Ducks.
