Going to be hard for him to put up boatloads of points because he doesn't shoot the puck enough.
I don't mean that as a shot against his value - he's good overall. But hard to put up a ton of points when you only shoot once a game. Look at the defenseman scoring leaders and you'll see Brodie is a huge outlier in terms of shots on net - http://www.nhl.com/stats/player?repo...regate=0&pos=D

He is, but Ontario media has been spinning him for years.
Edmonton is bad, I could only imagine the horror of the situation if he was drafted by Toronto.

But that would be more reasonable and palatable than hearing daily updates on the likes of Shawn Mattias, Daniel Winnik, and Nazem Kadri.
I honestly would prefer McDavid in Toronto. At least he'd be worth being force fed to us by TSN and Sportsnet.

I'm not a big stats guy as far as the whole corsi ratings, etc go. I pretty much ignore them. Not to say they are useless, I'm just not that into following them or using them to drill into a players production.
I'm more basing my opinion on his PPG totals the last few years, his consistent point progression, and watching the guy play every game. I always liked him and thought he would be good......but this year he's taken a BIG step forward. I see a lot of Ryan Suter in him to be honest; elite skater and passer, not a huge, physically imposing dman but still VERY effective in his own zone.
He's going to turn lot of heads next year.

I'm not talking about Corsi or anything like that. Just shots he takes on net himself.
Brodie is 22nd in the league in d-man scoring with 22 points in 33 games. Of the guys above him - the lowest shot total is Duncan Keith with 64 (and after that the next lowest guy has 85 shots). Brodie has 38 shots on net. Just hard to get points if you aren't getting the tips/rebounds etc.

I guarantee if McDavid was in Toronto, TSN would buy Rogers Sportsnet renamed it to Stanley Cup 360, brand the colors blue and white, and change the logo to an avatar of McDavid's head.

He and we will forget about it after his multiple Hart, Art Ross, and Conn Smythe wins.

As those shot totals adjusted for the fact he missed some time?
It isn't hard for him to get points even if he's not shooting because he leads the rush half the time. It's easy for him to get assists during 3 on 1s, 2 on 1s, 3 on 2s, etc.
