Bad bounces and bad turnovers. Jones did a good enough job (even if we scored 4) to get the win.

Jones, Burns were killers for the Sharks. Ferland and Bennett were really good for Calgary. Hamilton and Gaudreau looked good and Monahan was the best he's been for a while. Along with Brodie, that's your future right there.

Well lots of bad luck in this one. Turnovers, bad bounces. Really puts a blow in our playoff chances to lose to division opponents Coyotes and Sharks.
That said, lots of positives as well. Ferland looked like the best fit on the top line so far this season and Monahan had one of his most involved games. Bennett continues to be a factor and improves.
Rough one for the playoff chances but perhaps a glimpse into the future. I wonder if Gaudreau-Bennett-Ferland might be our #1 line at some point.

Yeah, a "close call" that didn't even hit the goalie.
I can't really fault the offense though, they're scoring. Flames aren't playing in the post-season this year due to putrid defense and goaltending. Yeah, Ramo's been better lately but this team has allowed waaaay too many goals this season and it's killed them.

Even if he was the reason for this loss (which he wasn't) and is a bad goalie, what could you possibly get in return for said "bad goalie".

Love seeing a solid game from Ferland. Hopefully can build on that. Nice to see Bennett pot one too.

I'm pretty sure Calgary had double the shots and chances, Jones was in the zone, Sharks capitalized on some favorable bounces and slick tips. Less forced passes and no more dumb penalties for next game cause ai thought there are many positives in this game, just sucks it had to be a Pacific loss... Onwards and upwards folks
*edit* whoops depends how you read that sentence, sounded like you were saying the Sharks outshot and out chanced the Flames.

Ramo didnt have a chance to make a big save...perhaps a lucky save but a lucky save and big/key save are 2 different things.
There are big saves such as Jones and his glove where the goalie is in perfect position, in the zone and sees the puck in slow motion.
Then there are wild redirections where you can be in perfect position and still have it get by you which was nothing more than bad luck on Ramo.

Is it me or is Backlund kind of like some of the losers on the Oilers that simple need to be moved for the betterment for him and the team? He's now 26 and seems to be getting worse not better or being extremely generous he's plateaued. He's had ample opportunity to show he's part of the solution but sadly for both parties he's simply not up to the task.

I think Ramo was fine, a lot of bad luck on most of those goals he let in.

That quick clear near the blueline is arguably a good save if not a great play on Ramo's part.

flames are the 6th best team in the division. a division of predominantly sub-par teams.
it's a rebuild year. the good news is that their isn't a huge regression from last year (ie. not a full on fluke). need to reassess who's part of the secondary layer core (backlund, russel, colborne, etc), and add another top flight talent with a top 5 pick.
let's not let 1 surprisingly successful year get in the way of planning longer term growth.

A positive note is Ferland on the top line. That should be a good line as they gain more chemistry going forward.

It does seem as if he expected to be a top player and as other guys continue to pass him on the depth chart he is settling in and becoming a 3rd line player at best. Unfortunately for him, time is running out as guys are knocking on the door. I do not see him on the flames roster in 2 years unless he loses the passenger mentality.

None of the above. I would be looking to move all of them. We need someone like Arnold on the third line thats good at face offs and defensively responsible. Russell always seems to be chasing and that is why his blocked shot totals are so high. Colbourne is a big body but isnt nasty enough, there has to be someone with more of mean streak than him we could get.
