We moved here in 1968 after my Dad finished school. It seems to me that I have spent most of my life in cold weather and I'm getting tired of it.
I realized last night that I do enjoy getting out in the cold to run the snow blower after drinking some red wine however.

First generation Canadian. My parents emigrated to Canada in 1967, and I was born in Calgary in 1975, and have had no compelling reason to leave.
Apparently Holy Cross was the place to birth in the 70s, as I was also born there.
The changes in this city have been huge.
Anyone remember when Deerfoot ended at 17th Ave/Blackfoot Tr?

Born and raised. 41 years. Holy Cross baby as well. My mother has been here since 1955, my dad 1965.
I always laugh when people say "Born and raised Calgarian! That's so rare!" When virtually everyone in my close circle, is a born and raised Calgarian.
As a side note. Seeing a lot of ups and downs in the cities economy, I just want to reassure everyone that hasn't been through one, this will get better sooner than you think, and will just eventually be a vague memory. I think this is the fifth downturn I've rode out, and this city always manages to survive. It has been a lot worse.

I vaguely remember when there was no Flames. And he excitement of us getting an NHL team when I was in grade 2. I also remember being 7 and having a massive temper tantrum in a Woolco over a Flames toque I wanted. And my mother fed up, grabbed the toque, shoved the Pom Pom in my mouth, and said "Here, have the f@cking toque!" Ah... Old school parenting. Still love you mom!
Still have and wear that stretched out old disgusting toque every now and then.
