What is the deal with Etem?
Anaheim boy gets drafted by hometown team and then dumped for nothing. Then gets dumped for even less than nothing by the new team before the season is even half done.
His historical stats look good, he's a great skater, has size, and seems to have some good skills. This looks like a good deal for the Canucks. Jensen is worthless.

I don't think Carl Hagelin was considered 'nothing' when he was traded to the Ducks for Etem

Seems like a win for Van, Jensen hasn't even produced at the AHL level.
Would have liked the Flames to inquire at that cost.

Struggling to find where this 30 pound difference comes from.

hockeydb has Jensen at 186. Looks like it might be inaccurate.

I think I mixed Jensen up with Jordan Schroeder. Yup. Sure did.
Still, I think Etem plays a harder style of game than Jensen could ever.

LOL you just know NYR were willing to go Etem for Jensen 1 for 1.. but it wouldn't be a trade with Vancouver unless Benning threw in a pick just for the sake of throwing in a pick.

One big-bodied underperformer in exchange for another. Nothing to see here.

Willie loves Etem. He scored 60 for him with the Tigers. Shorthanded threat as well.
It can be argued, however, that his obscene numbers in junior had a lot to do with Tyler Ennis.

As some kind of legacy?
they never played together
Ennis last year was 08/09
Etem's first was 09/10
the year he scored 60 the team was led in scoring by him and Shinkaruk with 61 and 49 goals, next highest was 24

You're right. I thought they had one year together, but Etem and Shinkaruk were the lethal top line/PK duo.

Pretty good trade as Etem is a serviceable fourth liner and I guess that's what you usually get with a 6th rounder.
Edit: just noticed Jensen going the other way so deal gets better for Vancouver.

ya I had to check to be sure, I remember a lot of people credited Shinkaruk's success to Etem as well

Vancouver wins this trade. At least Etem is somewhat an NHL regular.

It's Jim Benning. The Canucks would have to throw in a 2nd.
