The more I look at the jerseys, the more boring I can imagine this looking. White with a hint of yellow vs. black with a hint of yellow. Super.
And the idea of each player needing to wear 2 jerseys to an all-star game is pretty silly. Agree with everyone on here that there should have been 4 colours.

Marketing! now you can buy a white AND a black Gaudreau all-star jersey.

If they keep this format then I guess that we get 4 jerseys next year.
The format wasn't announced this year until November 16th.
Not nearly enough time to get two more jerseys designed, and into production for the game.
You could probably get enough for just the players, but no way do you want players wearing jerseys that aren't available for fans to buy at the game.

Was it really THAT late? Yeesh. That does make a lot more sense then.
I was thinking from a design perspective they AT LEAST could have coloured the arm-bands. But by November I'd have to think they were at in or finished production.

Agree about 4 jerseys being a better idea, but I like these. Clean without being completely boring, and the sleeves actually look pretty neat. The neck I like too, but it definer reminds me of a dragon ball.

Maybe bc-chris can weigh in, but I don't think it should take 1 month or more to produce what could be pretty much the exact same jerseys with different colors.
"Hey, Reebok, so that order of All-Star jerseys, can we get different colored trim for each team?"
Seriously, different cuffs, collar and crest. Can be that much of a tall order. They can make team gloves for players within a few hours of them being traded, they can't change the colors of 3/4 of a jersey order with a month notice? (likely more as this decision would have been made a while before it was officially announced).

Teams stock a selection of gloves in varying sizes to account for acquisitions, trades, call-ups and such.
But seriously, going with four distinct team identities not only adds to jerseys but also to every single category of merchandise. Doubling the amount of branding in a special event project doesn't do the production and merchandising professionals any favours.

It's not about the 20-40 jerseys needed for players playing in the game.
It's the thousands that you want to produce to be able to sell these things, and you don't want players wearing jerseys that their fans can't buy.
Good luck trying to get two new jersey colors into stores to try and make money off of the jerseys.
In terms of the announcement there was a rumor on November 6th that the NHL was potentially looking at the change after the success of 3v3 and the announcement was made on November 16th...so decision wasn't made that much before the announcement.

Apparently I'm in the small minority that liked last year's all star jerseys.
Definitely not a fan of these.

I wouldn't be opposed to seeing a retro all-star kit, complete with the old orange NHL logo.

Pics leaked of the name and number treatment:
I actually dig that a lot. Wish teams accentuated the numbers more often. Fitting that Nashville is the ASG with great number treatment.
