I have been told/read from numerous sources the TV ratings in Sweden are high.

Yes the Finnish numbers might be boosted by being the host country, but does that really matter? I bet a lot of them who are watching this tournament for the first time will keep tabs on it in the future.
I agree with you. I was just curious.

I feel like the tourney being held in Canada every second year kind of kills the ability for the tourney to grow more. My GF and I want to go to the next world juniors in Europe but now we have to wait till 2020 I think in Prague?

36-0 in the round robin over the last nine years, only one gold medal to show for it. Sweden is basically the world junior equivalent of the 1990s Atlanta Braves.

Quite the obscure reference haha.

Patriots lost in the Superbowl after going undefeated one season, mainly on a lucky helmet catch by a guy who never had another NFL catch.

The braves were great in the 90's and always sucked in the playoffs IIRC.

The Braves is a great reference. Dominated regular season play and almost always sh*t the bed in the playoffs. Although perhaps unfair to Sweden, that team also seemed entitled and highly unlikable.

I was going to go again this year in Finland, but my wife shut that down (wanted a beach vacation). I owe her many thanks because I would not have been a happy camper.

Having it in Canada every second year does suck for the people that want to travel to the tournament from here, but once you've been to one of these events you will quickly see the reason why. Outside of the home country's games, it's like watching your kids play at Winsport from an atmosphere perspective. A lot of the games are mostly empty. Canada games aren't because we travel well, but the rest are. They basically use the revenue they make in Canada to help fund the tournaments in Europe every second year, so it is technically helping the game to grow.

Vlad Kamenev scores on the PP on a blistering one timer from Provorov.

Haha, Russia starts the other goalie after Samsonov stymies the U.S yesterday? Wow.

Russia is just trolling with their goaltenders.

The more I watch #26 Yegor Korshkov for Russia the more and more I want him on the Flames. See's the game so well, and sound defensively and has a flare for offense.

Hintz from Finland playing great.

Puljujarvi on the other hand kind of quiet.

I'm sure you can find a bunch on google.
Unless it's an official IIHF/TSN stream, it's probably a bad idea to post it.

Feels like that top line is putting too much on themselves to put up points. Their shifts are real short too. I kind of think that they're being saved for the 3rd period.

Finland owned the 2nd period. Just couldn't buy a goal.

It's pretty standard tactic from coach Jalonen. He likes to use four lines all through the game too.

This is a terrific game. If Finland continues to press like that in the third, they will get one eventually. I am pretty impressed by how big, strong, and fast this Russian team is.

Some classic Finnish stone-handedness at display.

Puljujärvi handling the puck like Olli Jokinen. Hintz has been messing up Rantanen's good set ups like before. Hintz finishes like one out of twenty prime chances.

Rantanen and Laine together would be great.

Having two North American refs has really helped this game. Several times a player has fallen over quite easily and they've just shooked their head no. They've also allowed some strong clean hits into the boards that would get called by a European ref on sound alone.

I don't really agree. Mostly Russia is playing great defense and they're getting good goaltending.
