The last couple years of that era of Flames history was unbearable for me. I would have pretty much taken anything other than that. I 100% wanted to see a rebuild but could have never dreamed of things playing out the way they have. You would have expected the team to become a bootom feeder for the next 5 years and within a season we were better than we were pre rebuild. Things sure worked out pretty well and hopefully the best is still to come.

The shortened season in 12/13 was the absolute worst.

We thought Cervenka would come in and over the course of the season become a #1 C for Iggy. And the lone bright spot (up until the tear down) was Jbo's "resurgence" by which he posted okay numbers as opposed to abysmal numbers.

Just out of order, or should it be March 2015?

Reggie Lemelin - November, 1985
Mike Vernon - January, 1989
Theoren Fleury - January, 1996
Jarome Iginla - February, 2000
Jarome Iginla - November, 2001
Miikka Kiprusoff - December, 2003 (Defensive Player of the Month) *

In the Player of the Month era, two, three of even four runners-up were often named but only the single award was given.

Runners-up:

Mike Vernon - November, 1986
Al MacInnis - December, 1986
Gary Suter - December, 1987
Mike Vernon - November, 1988
Joe Nieuwendyk - October, 1989
Theoren Fleury - February, 1991
Theoren Fleury - March, 1991
Mike Vernon - December, 1992
Gary Roberts - March, 1994
Jarome Iginla - October, 2001
Roman Turek - October, 2001
Miikka Kiprusoff - December, 2005 (Defensive Player of the Month) *

* In 2003-04 & 2005-06 they split the award into Offensive & Defensive Player of the Month

Gaudreau was asked about Stajan's shorthanded goal against the Oilers on Hometown hockey. He said "Stajan works his bag off".

Stajan is just returning the favour.
