I said young proven NHLer with bottom of the roster potential. I will qualify that by saying that is based on his performance this year when you consider his main asset is offense and he's been pretty nonexistent in that respect. I also think there will be a mid-round pick thrown into the deal to equal the value up.

I'd be perfectly happy with picking up a young backup goaltender for Hudler though.

I think it also depends on what those in the 21-30 think that end of the draft looks like. If they don't see value in the pick they hold, they might decide to grab Hudler for a 1st because they know he is a proven 50 point player.

I personally think we should be looking for a 1st(very optimistic) or more realistically, a 2nd and a 3rd, similar to what we got for Glencross.
The thing with Glencross is that he had a big game against the Capitols when we visited, so that probably impressed their management. I can't think of any teams being impressed by Hudler this season.

I probably missed it in one of the other threads or during the broadcast, but is this speculation based on Hudler not being on the bench for the 2nd part of the game?

Anyway, depending on how it is defined, I think a good B-level prospect would be the return (Hudler himself was probably considered a B-level prospect after he was drafted). Maybe a prospect like Nick Merkley or Jansen Harkins.

We need him to get healthy and start contributing again before the deadline.

If so, he would net a good return - probably something like a 2nd and a decent prospect (depending on the market)

If the Flames' luck continues as it has been this season, he remains unhealthy, doesn't get moved, and walks in July.

He left the game with a lower body injury.

based on that, I'd want at least a 2nd and a decent prospect.
I'm sorry, I couldn't help myself. Look at the two bolded transactions. One of those guys is out of the NHL and the other is a productive top 6 player on a 1st place team. I'll let you guess which is which.

Absolute larceny by Treliving.
