Skating it out from a dead stop was never going to work, and simply slamming a puck around the boards isn't an outlet. If a hail mary is the only option, it's a bad plan.

Maybe this is Hartley's system, but no way is he telling Gio to play a stretch pass from behind his net with Kesler lurking. Gio has to see he is there, why he ever thought it was on is beyond me. He has to realise the danger and try and skate it out, or pass it around the boards. This is where basic Hockey IQ has to come into play.
