Perhaps it is time to consider an "ongoing" Kane being investigated by special victims unit thread?

That's the most judgmental and horrible thing I've read on this forum this year. Your post was bad and you should feel bad.

Haha, what does that even mean? Sounds like a reliable accusation...
I wish these things wouldn't come out so early on, when there is so little useful info. How many times do you think similar allegations were made against athletes in the past, only to have nothing come of it? Now, in the age of Twitter and social media, it becomes a media #### storm for months.

Hahaha, look at you all jumping on Wedge's back. Patrick Kane was found innocent, so it's fairly safe to assume that the gold-digger was infact doing exactly that... gold-digging. It's not sexist, it's not discriminatory or any other derogatory meaning, so stop throwing your toys out the pram the minute anything considered even remotely 'controversial' gets said. Why are you giving liars a free pass?
And in response to Wedge, yes it would be hilarious, however no gold-digger is stupid enough to pull that stunt twice.
Edit: just to add, I too wish they would stop releasing this stuff while there is so little evidence. Waiting on some woman who's having 'memory issues'?! What, so we're all supposed to sit and wait around until she either remembers or decides to nope the **** out of there?
"er, yes officer, something may or may not have happened, I can't quite remember what, but I can tell you it was DEFINITELY Evander Kane of the Buffalo Sabres, Number 9, who used to play for the Winnipeg Jets, average annual salary of $6m USD"

It's not safe to assume any gold digging was going on in the Patrick Kane case, since cases of false accusations by women proven to have been merely seeking money are rare. Where accusations have been found to be false (as opposed to merely unproven) it was almost always for other motives - psychological issues, revenge, embarrassment, etc.

Is this the same case where the lawyer fired the client and the DA released a scathing letter that all but said she was lying? The same case where the mother was tampering with evidence?
I think if you're waiting for difinitive proof, you'll be waiting a while. Having said that, it's not tremendously difficult to connect the dots here.
I honestly think most of the time when a rich guy gets falsely accused, he'd rather have the whole thing go away than sue the person over it. It's not worth it to them to exact 'revenge' because it keeps the story in the headlines and it's probably annoying to deal with. All for a pittance in his eyes. From a police/DA perspective it's also hard to prove and a PR nightmare so it's probably not worth the hassel from their POV unless it's a slam dunk. Besides that, I don't think there's a lot of political pressure to fight for the rich, white guy the same way there is for rape victims.

Pretty ####ty of you to laugh at that. Even if we don't account for 'date rape' drugs or alcohol, there's still a well documented link between traumatic experience and memory loss.

The brain’s fear circuitry also alters the functioning of a third key brain area, the hippocampus. The hippocampus encodes experiences into short-term memory and can store them as long-term memories. Fear impairs the ability of the hippocampus to encode and store “contextual information,” like the layout of the room where the rape happened. Fear also impairs its ability to encode time sequencing information, like whether the perpetrator ripped off a shirt before or after saying “you want this.”

The Acute Stage
This stage occurs immediately after the assault. It may last a few days to several weeks. During this stage the victim may:- seem agitated or hysterical or s/he may appear totally calm (a sign that s/he could be in shock)
- have crying spells and anxiety attacks
- have difficulty concentrating, making decisions, and doing simple, everyday tasks
- show little emotion, act as though numb or stunned
- have poor recall of the rape or other memories
