Flights to Asia - recommendations

I had a hideous experience with Delta flying Calgary-Seattle-Narita-Taipei.

The Calgary-Vancouver flight had a serious mechanical issue, the nice gate lady found me a direct Calgary-Narita flight (Air Canada) they could get me on, but Delta refused to release my ticket in order to get me onto the AC flight.

In the words of the gate agent "Holy ####, I've never seen anyone do this before" (The Calgary-Seattle leg was West Jet, code-shared with Delta).

I ended up having to just wait a day and do the whole trip all on Delta.

Never fly Delta.

Anybody have any expieriences with Thai airways? Good? Bad?

Thai international is fantastic. Thai domestic is kinda rough. But the flights are not that long, so it's not to big a deal.

I flew Thai airways from Bangkok to Shanghai and it was fine. Older 747, but decent service. It's not a discount airline like Air Asia, so it should be ok.
