The only problem I see is we are close to our cap but if we send one of our goalies (Hiller) down, he should fit.

Yes, please claim him, he's immediately more reliable than Hiller. When Ramo loses his game at least we have a steady back up to fill in.

Columbus might take him with Bob out, they're running with Mac and Korpisalo.
Doubt T.O does, EDM is really happy with Nilsson and why shouldn't they be.
Would Carolina take him back?
And Buffalo I think are fine with Ullmark and Johnson for a couple more weeks.
In any case, taking a chance on Khudobin and seeing if he can earn a spot next year isn't a bad idea. He sure didn't look good that one game against the Flames but he's never really had a solid shot at a starter role. maybe for good reason, maybe not.

If you like Khudobin better than Hiller (or Ramo), you take him and send the other guy down. No assets lost, and the only cost is Khudobin's expiring contract, probably a few starts for Ortio in the AHL, and likely the ability to get much if any return for the guy that gets sent to the minors (lets face it, you weren't getting anything for him anyways).
Worst case scenario, he craps the bed and you waive him?
Looks like he's been pretty inconsistent this year:
- 7 starts
- In three wins, he is 0.66 GAA with 0.978 save%, one shutout
- In the other four starts, he's been pulled twice, and is 0-3 with a 0.803 save%.
Edit: looks like he was pretty inconsistent last year too. On a crappy Carolina team, he was 0-8-2 in his first 10 starts. Followed that with 6 straight wins (1.50 GAA, 0.946 save%). Then pretty average numbers for the rest of the year (record was 2-9-4).

I see a lot of potential with him. I say do it and let the chips fall where they may.
Let's see what Sigalet can do with him.

Nah, Khudobin isn't really a starter, but he is a viable back up goaltender who is more reliable than not. At worst, he's slightly below average, which is still a lot better than Hiller. At best he's average, which is still much better than any of our goaltenders this year. However, Ramo has been decent for several weeks in a row, so he likely remains the starter for this season.
Honestly, our goaltending needs upgrading in a bad way, so taking a chance on just about anyone is a good idea at the moment.

I rather the Flames try and acquire a better goalie via trade tha be stuck with 4 goalies with one way contracts (at this point Ortio is a AHL goalie for the year as he slipped through waivers and only makes $600k).

I was originally going to argue that we might as well just recall Ortio if we want to bring back a young, mostly unproven goalie. But I checked Ortio's numbers in Stockton first. And oh god.
That being said, Khudobin's play lately hasn't been better than Ramo, so for this season, this would just be a lateral move.

Lehner is closer to coming back than he isn't. Couple of weeks maybe, I don't think they want to bog things down. Ullmark has been really good and Johnson fills in nicely to lessen the load for the 23 year old goalie.

He's a UFA after this season, so no commitment beyond this year. I say grab him, there is nothing to lose. Send Hiller to the farm. Maybe he can stop a puck or two there, since Ortio can't.

Bobrovsky is only out until Christmas and they have Korpisalo already, they will just be creating a goalie glut if they snag Khudobin...

Despite Hiller going 2-0, Ramo has been announced as the starter tomorrow. Hartley's patience with Hiller just about done?
