6.5-7.5 I'm hoping he gives us a sweetheart deal of 6.5X8!

5x6.5, I'd expect he wants to win a bunch of Stanley Cups and the extra 5-10 he'll lose in the contract can easily be made back in endorsements. Nike, Adidas, Reebok and Under Armor should be fighting over him. He's pretty much the most marketable hockey player there is.

i doubt he is looking for more than gio by all accounts he hasn't really seemed like he is chasing the money. I remember last year someone on the tv was talking about how whenever all the bonus money gaudreau would be making was brought up to him he would just shrug it off and talk about hockey.

7-8 long term would be my guess. 6x6 would be a steal.

Pay him whatever it takes in my mind but I'm thinking he gets 7.5-8 million.
I hope the Flames do everything to keep here. He is the most exciting player to watch that I've seen on the Flames.

He doesn't strike me as a greedy kid or that comes from a greedy family. Honestly when you're signing for 8 years at around $7million then does it really matter if you're making 62 million instead of 56 million? It'll get done and be fair to both sides.

Hamilton for under $6m is something nobody expected. Gio is in at a little over $6. In the summer, lots of people were expecting $7+ for both guys. $2M in savings is a lot.
If we signed Johnny to something in the 8/$50M range, and did a similar pact with Monahan, where we get them for a million less each than we thought we would, that allows us to get another Frolik calibre player.
I should point out Kane and Toews both got roughly $6m out of their ELCs as well - unless Johnny wins us a Cup this year, I would guess this is where he slots in.

Gio is in a little under 7 mil. 6.875 million. Is anyone really looking at that deal and saying "steal" today. He is not the same player that put up two elite seasons and the contract hasn't even started yet.

I am so thankful Brian Burke wasn't a part of this team during Gaudreau's draft year. No way he gets picked by Calgary if he was.

From what I've seen so far Burke doesn't micromanage the people under him in the organization. There isn't reason to think that he would have much influence on who the Flames draft in the 4th round.

Especially with the way Tod Button ran that draft, asking for a player or two to be set aside from the list and draft at their own discretion. Really doubt Burke would have nixed that idea. Might not have been thrilled with the idea of drafting a guy that small but his time in Calgary has shown he'll let the guys in charge of the team run it.
