Even though Johnny ended up being key in the victory I'm a little miffed that Ristolainen doesn't at least show up on the Penalty Summary (missed the game, Xmas concert). Can't see a puck anywhere on that replay; do only the Flames get called on that sort of manhandling away from the puck?

Here you go dumb dumbs. Risto hit him just as Johnny tipped the puck.

Thanks for the clip dammage79; evidently the black blur on the left in the first frame of the video sureLoss posted is the puck.

Apparently I'm now old enough that I may actually need FoxTrax. Will book eye appointment tomorrow.

Fine with the hit. If he doesn't get ran over by Jones after, its nothing

Yeah just a hard nosed hockey play, D-men should be given some allowance to clear out the front of the net for the goalie.

Refs have been horrible this year. They missed the check from behind on Frolik by Franson too. I'm going to give that guy major #### when I see him. He deserves a suspension for that hit. I'm shocked nobody took out Ristolinen too. Come on Colbourne or Hamilton. They would match his size. Why do we have Bollig in the line-up again?

Can you imagine of Johnny actually got injured? I don't think we'd ever gain the zone again.

Wow, Gaudreau's a pretty tough bugger. If that was Jones, I think he'd be out for a couple weeks.

There was more to that hit than just playing hard D.

Ristolainen was making a statement. Hard play on a star, fine. But no one holds him accountable? And he carries on to score a hat-trick? Ferland going out and being physical was too little too late.

The good guys won. Johnny scores the winner. Guess it's OK.

But what if Johnny didn't come back and was sent to the quiet room?

Is it then a dirty play? He was targeted. Plain and simple. Is targeting star players not supposed to be a no no?

Star players get targeted all the time in every game.

I have no problem with the hit. Heck of a game by Risto.

Glad Gaudreau is OK though.

If you think that is a dirty hit or suspension worthy or intent to injure, that's pretty homerish.

A big guy knocked down a little guy and he unfortunately fell into another big guy awkwardly. Nothing more. I'd be saying the exact same thing had johnny been injured for 4-6 weeks on that play.

Agreed. My only thought at first was that it was a crosscheck or interference, but with the replay you can see that it wasn't. Risto kept the hit low to the body as well, which isn't always easy when a big player hits a small player at high speed.

If I can derail the thread . . . should we be concerned Johnny isn't scoring on the road? Can he be eliminated by match-ups?

One assist in his last 7 road games, and that was a deflection off of him that he never controlled.

I would be concerned about these stats:

HOME/ROAD
HOME GAMES PLAYED 14 .......ROAD GAMES PLAYED 14
HOME GOALS: 8 ........ROAD GOALS: 2
HOME ASSISTS: 13 ........ROAD ASSISTS: 5
HOME POINTS: 21 ........ROAD POINTS: 7
HOME PLUS-MINUS +14 ........ROAD PLUS-MINUS -10
HOME FACEOFF WIN%: 0.00 ........ROAD FACEOFF WIN%: 50.00
