Hilarious. Kyte was barely an NHL player. Gallagher is legitimately being talked about for a spot on the World Cup team. I wish the rest of the Canadiens had his tenacity and heart.

Why can't they be both?

To me, the pathetic part is how frequently CBC takes a bunch of tweets and tries to turn them into a "story" as a replacement for journalism.

This would have been news regardless where the spat took place. These are the times we live in and social media is now part of everyday life: deal with it

Gallagher may be a punk, but 'you wouldn't have survived training camp. you'd be in the hospital'....pretty dumb comments from someone who isn't relevant anymore (or ever?)

Gotta say...seriously glad the NHL is trying to move on from this. Meat heads meat heading. Trade off is some little pukes you want to punch, but I'll take a skill game versus a brawl on ice any day.

The only way Gallagher "wouldn't survive training camp" is if Kyte would've sucker punched him. Gallagher would have been just like Theo was back in the day, he may have been small but his skill made up for it and I think he would have honestly taken on Kyte if he had to.

I didn't know they were making a Weasel team to go along with the Young Stars.

Burrows, Doan, Backes, Kelser, Gallagher, Brown. Who am I missing?

I always admired Jim Kyte.

He stands at the top of the crease and takes as much punishment as anyone. He doesn't sucker people and run away. Or punch Sedins with impunity. He yaps a little and is about 5'6", that's why people don't like him. Who cares? He's effective and works his ass off. Give me 5 of those guys on my team anyday.

Jim Kyte was at the top of the NHL fighter list until that Kocur fight. He was never the same afterwards.

He played his role. Did his thing. Overcame obstacles and made himself a good career.

no comment on the twitter feud.

Kyte was relevant in a former era. Not appropriate to describe him otherwise.

Be against fighting, be against goons, but 30 years ago the NHL was full of them and Kyte was a good one for a long time.

The NHL was a circus in the "honourable" days. Pretty ridiculous actually. I like Gallagher, I wish the flames had a player like him.

He's a good player but I honestly haven't heard that. Canada is pretty stacked, he shouldn't be on the team.

I would be shocked if he was actually in the conversation. He is an ok player but him being on a world cup team is overvaluing him a lot.

If you're going strictly on position, Canada has Corey Perry as a right winger ahead of him and who else? Mark Stone? James Neal? Joel Ward? He's in the conversation.

Yeah but players routinely play out of position in tourneys like that to ice the best possible team. I like Gallagher, but I'd be shocked if he made it. Canada is just too deep.

I read somewheres that Hockey Canada is gonna take less C's to play wing at the World Cup I think.
