This may be way out in left field and I am not sure where I heard this, heck it may have been on this board, but I heard that gay guys adhere to the stereotype of being really flamboyant and effeminate mainly so that they can tell the gay men from the straight ones and that it's not necessarily that they are like that. What are your thoughts on that?
Interesting. I can only speak for myself and my experiences

It's weird, I think there are a few reasons. I know some guys feel they have to act that way, in private they are pretty middle of the road, but the minute they leave their house It's Showtime! I also know a few straight guys that are like that, right now cause it's sorta trendy. It's so hard right now cause so many guys "dress gay" . MRC was the worst last year cause I'm a bit of a flirt and was batting below the mendoza line on my "gaydar" as I was totally flummoxed for a couple weeks so i just gave up. What I do know is that there is a pressure from society to act a certain way. When I told my mom she didn't believe me cause I "don't act the part". I've also had friends go from straight acting to super flaming the day they come out offically. That's trippy. you never really know which mask is the true mask, and I mean everyone has masks, but gay guys i think wear a few more. My bf came out last week to his family, and I honestly had the worry that he'd do that as I've seen it enough, but a week has gone by and he's still very masculine, and still hopes we get our minipack this year.

hehe, well depends what you mean. Biggest things I've learned: use a brush, not a comb, go to a salon (even supercuts) and spend the cash on decent shampoo/conditioner--don't buy the crap from London Drugs, no matter what the brand.

Worst comes to worst, go into any salon downtown and look for the guy stylist with the most outragous hair and pay him whatever he wants, and ask him to teach you how to do it at home...he'll think it's adorable! if he's good he'll say "oh you straight guys are so hopeless" and you'll all have a good laugh.

lol, this is hilarious, good on ya man. And ya, like Kevman said, I hope no one would turn this ugly.

MRC, 1st question. I am 23, 6'4 and I am around 230-240. Despite all the chastising from my girlfriend, co-workers and friends I think the mini-cooper is a really cool car and would love to get one. Is it "gay" for a man of my size (and charm and wit) to drive one of these smaller cars?

2nd - Do you get upset when people use the word "gay" like I just used it? If I say something is gay I usually mean that it's "silly" or "odd" not "Well, aren't you a homosexual" Does it offend you?

Burn. Well I haven't gotten highlights for almost a year, so don't worry about me. Just worry about your shaved-headed competitive-eating self.

I pull out the electric clippers two or three times a year and buzz it down. The rest of the time it grows out. Haven't been to a barber, let alone a "salon" in years.

Am I an incorrigible straight dude?

I've got one....

I work with a gay guy and he always talks about how Jessica Alba is the one girl that would cause him to temporarily "switch teams".

Which famous actress or other female would give you similar motivation?

Like MMF said, kudos to MRC.........great stuff.

My question:

As a gay man, do you care if you are in a 'marriage' or a 'union'?

Or do you not really care what it's called, as long as gays have equal rights?

Avoiding the jokes,

many people always bring up the whole thing about whether homosexuality is biologically defined from birth, or if it's something you gravitate toward and choose later in life based on experience...or a mix of the two. What is your take?

1. Ohh ok i love cars and i don't think Mini Coopers are gay at all, I mean the thing is would it be comfortable for ya? I'm only 5-11 so it's not bad for me. I think what you need to do is pick a good colour, get like that pearlized white with the black roof, or British Racing green with a white roof. If you can fit in it and the ingress/egress is ok, then go for it. I'd get a mini anyday as they are super cool, but i'd get bright red. I mean it's got style, handling, guts, etc. why wouldn't ya want it, if it fits your needs. Take one out on the roads west of nanton and i bet you'd love it! assuming you live around here d'oh!

2. I don't, big deal. Most of my straight friends will go up to ppl at the mall or whatever and scold them for saying "that's so gay" and i have to tell them to chill out, it's sorta funny. I mean it's all context. I'm secure enough that I don't get offeneded and it's not like I haven't heard it all and it's easy to know when something is malicious or not..jsut common sense. People who get offended easily are jsut looking to be offended...i have no time for them, str8 or gay. The one thing i've heard alot of my buddies tell straight folk to say is: "that's gay, but not in the cool way"

It's all just been a big pain in the rump. (and not the good kind--hehe i've been waiting to say something like that all night--sorry)

As a business student just give me the same work benefits and tax rights and I'm good.

i mean all these people getting worked up over a term in the dictionary, gimme a freaking break. And the liberals think they are all cool and moderate by forcing this thru, ugh. yah i get alot of heat for being against the vocal gay guys but the truth is from the guys i know...most gay guys don't care about the terminology, the ones that do are the ones you seen on the news. lots of not being able to see the forest for the trees on both sides.

eww coolers...i've had 2 in my entire life and hated them, jsut cause i dated a guy who loved them, didn't last long...i mean if i wanted spiked minute maid, i'd make it home myself--and for much cheaper.

I like Stella for my beer
Tequila for my hard booze (R&R and coke is good too)
and L-I Iced tea for my gay drink (they go down sooo smoothly)
