I actually think the joke is the fact that made it to the live TSN ticker. It's kind of the joke of the joke, if that makes sense. Shouldn't be offensive.

Haha I got banned from a thread once for saying that Wolf looks like Hitlers wet dream child.
People are touchy on that subject.

Continuing to glorify it, doesn't make it right or any funnier.

It was my sig for the longest time but I changed it recently.

You'd think it shouldn't, but it seemed to be widely speculated last year that one of the areas that really put Ekblad over Gaudreau/Stone was he was still 18. So the NHL has made that a factor going forward in future Calder races now I guess.

Draisaitl has definitely been on fire though. 17pts in 11 games.
Bennett has been playing unbelievable recently so hopefully he can have a really strong second half.

hahahaha, yeah guy. I'm not defending a Nazi phrase or the Holocaust I'm laughing at the sensitivity of some people not being able to make a simple albeit gross joke about something that happened 60 years ago.
Getting back on track, if Bennett keeps his play up he'll be one of the Calder finalists but might lose to the older rookie small guy in Chicago.

But I don't care if he's nominated or not. Fact is, he's already a huge part of the team and hopefully continues to get better and the years go by. Such a beast already and when he fills out with another 20 lbs of muscle, he's going to be unstoppable. Even now he's one of the few forward to finishes his checks.
I'm looking forward to Draisatl coming back down to earth, because now suddenly all these ''experts'' in the media (outside Doug Mclean) are proclaiming Draisatl to be better due to his hot start. I think Draisatl is a great player, but I think Sam is just on another level when he peaks.
|
What. Bennet IS a "big name" rookie.
He was ranked the 1st overall skater by many scouts in 2014. Don't know how you get much bigger than that in a draft class. Need to stop downplaying our highest pick ever just cause he dons a Flames jersey.
But yeah, Dr. Dry will fall down to earth quickly I suspect. He doesn't have all the tools that Bennett possessed IMO, hot start aside.

I don't think he beats out Paryako/Larkin/Domi if he keeps up current pace. Will need to pick it up if he wants to pass them.

Bennett will get a nomination over those guys due to bonus points in the Mustache and wraparound rounds.

Bennett has a huge advantage in that, even with average play, he's guaranteed a top 6 role and PP time. Bennett only has to edge above Monahan to become our go to guy. If Bennett can get playing time with Gaudreau, I think he's in just as good as a position as Panarin, and doesn't have the same risk of falling further into the depth chart that Panarin does.

Wish I could say that list from what's his nuts was the worst thing in this thread or the thought of the media gushing over McDavid when he gets back and the talking heads can't shut up about "what if he didn't get hurt" BS...
But no.. about 20 posts in... Wow..

The only time the Calder is awarded to anyone other than the leading rookie scorer, is when it goes to a goalie or defenceman.
IIRC, only once in the the last 35 or 40 years has it been awarded to a forward who didn't lead the league in rookie scoring.
The only way to be in the Calder race is to be in the rookie scoring race, because literally nothing else matters.
NHL awards are a joke for the most part.

I think the 3 finalist will be.
1.Parayako (sorry if misspelled)
2.Panarin
3.Bennett
It's kind of a shame that Bennett has Backlund as his centre. Backlund has played well recently, but he just doesn't have the offensive ability to help Benny register huge points.
I honestly think Bennet is the most well rounded complete rookie this year tho, he hits, play makes, scores, feisty, and wins board battles. I wouldn't be surprised if he surpassed Monahan within the next 20 games. His skill set is unbelievable. He also plays a bigger game than Draisaitl.
