He certainly looks to have lost a step, but he's playing more dumb than anything.
Either way, wtf Gio.

How is the drop in his play surprising? If anything the level of play that he got to was surprising. Gio hit his peak and hes going back down to the level he was playing before he was Captain.

Gio's gonna be fine, relax
even if he takes all season to get better, the flames have him long term and he will be a very good player for a long time
he has arguably been a norris caliber defenseman since the lockout and is coming off of a season ending injury

"Captain" Mark Giordano
Giordano will continue to struggle when he is given top pair minutes. Hamilton was demoted to the last pairing and he's been good since. Why doesn't the same happen to Giordano? Hartley, this is on you for creating a philosophy and not following through with it.

And we're on life support.
Short memory? This is professional sports, it is a pretty strictly 'results oriented' enterprise.
I'm not advocating launching Gio into the Sun....just yet...we cant keep our heads in the sand and ignore his stunningly poor play lately.

Yeah, who cares how bad Gio plays this year because he was awesome last year.
Funny nobody defends Wideman, when he was also a beast last year.

Quoting a bunch of angry, in the heat of the moment posts from the GT to make a scathing post about a player?
The answer to the earlier question, definitely "this thread"

I wonder if the Flames will be as creative with the CBA as the Kings.

Hamilton has not been good. He was embarrassingly walked around tonight
At what point does a bad start become 'oh, crap, we locked this up!?!'

I thought Hamilton was one of the better defenders up until this game. I just wish Hartley would stop giving minutes to those that don't deserve it.

The number of times he passed backwards or across ice into dangerous areas when the whole team was moving up the ice was alarmingly odd.
Reeks of a player with no confidence.

Gio is just doing his part to lock us into a lottery pick. He realizes as much as we do, the Flames won't be a true contender until we add that last elite top 6 player. Thank you Gio!

Gio in his post game comments was using the word "we" all the time - "we had bad looks" "we got to do better" - no taking ownership saying I'm not good enough right now, I'm not leading this team. A strong leader needs to make it personal.

Wideman made himself matter last season. This year i can't even say he is a joke because there is nothing funny about his play tbis year.
He has been gargage. His play. His decisions, his passing his shot and his skatimg has all been a one big mess.
Nothing would make me happier of any player move that Wideman gets traded soon.

i think the big injury has a big impact.
at the 22 game mark last year, believe the guy had 21 points. this year he has 6.
He is lacking confidence big time, he seems extremely nervous everytime the puck comes to him.
Other than goaltending, his performance is one of the biggest issues with the team in my opinion. Followed by the play of wideman.

We are extremely lucky we have Brodie to look after him. If not, we are last in the league by a large margin.
