I find that there are generally a couple of really, really good steals to be had, but not if you're looking for something overly specific. If you're looking for a set of headphones, you might be in luck; if you're looking for this a set of Sennheiser wireless cans, you're probably not.
Basically, BF is good if you have some cash burning a hole in your pocket, canvass what's on offer, find the couple of excellent buys amidst the much larger volume of stuff that isn't, and decide, "Do I really want / need any of these things".

Do Ipads ever go on sale? The GF and I would like to pick one up some time between now and boxing day.
I googled up the deals they had last year and the iPad was on sale. Starting at 399 (I think) which is a lot less than I paid for mine. Though that is starting, which is probably pretty bare bones.
As title suggests, a spot to put general Black Friday questions, advice and deals people may want to know about.
Don't normally get into this day because I find it gets more attention than it deserves (referring to Canada, where the deals never seem too crazy). This year, however, I've been looking to get a new iPhone already, so thought I'd hold out and see if there would be any discounts. So, thread for all Black Friday talk, but personally looking for any advice on the least expensive way to get an iPhone. Prefer to buy the phone outright with no contract.
I was looking to upgrade my iPhone to the new 6s in sept. The Telus rep on the phone mentioned to wait till Black Friday. He said in the past, places like Best Buy will offer the newest iPhones at $100 off (may be on a 2 year term though) so I'm holding off to see whether they actually do or not

This is a great video for people who are interested in next gen TV's. In case you are unaware, Linus is a Canadian tech guy who is the ultimate nerd but a very knowledgeable tech guy. My go to for tech advice:

Some of the US deals are posted here, looks like iPads will be on sale but not sure if we will have the same deals in Canada. http://blackfriday.redflagdeals.com
I know there are a few folks looking for larger TV's this year. Just saw a post on RFD about the Vizio M65-C1 that will be going on sale for 1799 at Best Buy starting Nov 20 - Nov 26
So did Vizio take a step up in the electronics world in the past few years? I haven't been in the TV buying game since 2010ish and back then Vizio was a very entry level brand with cheap looking TV's that typically sold at Walmart and Superstore.
Even when I did see them at Best Buy and places like that they were generally tacky looking and entry level on pricing. Are they a legit TV brand now up there with the rest?
They started getting good reviews on sound products a few years back; I bought a soundbar from them and was surprised when I was looking at options that a Vizio product was so highly regarded. Never owned one of the TV's.

Yes Vizio did take a major step up. They are one of the most recommended TV's out there based on picture quality and of course excellent value. Google some reviews of the M Series, which is there top of the line. E Series are nice as well, but not as many features or as good of picture quality
I know what you are saying though, I remember them being very entry level.

If anyone is looking to waste money, Target is now allowing Canadians to shop, order, and ship from their US website. All prices are in Canadian dollars but the prices and shipping are so high it's laughable.

I tried ordering some stuff from Target, but anything that is on sale or clearance, is not eligible to ship to Canada.

Wal mart has online ordering now as well...normal prices and over $50 the shipping is free. Granted it is wal mart stuff, but you can get your name brand staple groceries through it as well.
