I would substitute in 'complicated' for 'crappy', but the same applies to me.

I wondered why the stats page was so unwieldy this year, hearing that its using SAP makes so much sense

Well when companies are forking over multi million dollar contracts to my company so they can move away from SAP, I'd say it's pretty crappy.
Complicated = crappy when you are trying to get non-technical users to access and use the system.

I've never read a thread with so much blanket agreement.

I would hazard a guess that in most cases, the people responsible for the blueprinting and design phase of the initial SAP implementation for the company did not do a great job and/or did not ask the right questions of the business which resulted in rolling out an unwieldy solution for the company. We get used to designing software solutions to fit the business practices when I think once you have chosen SAP, you almost have to change your business practices to fit the SAP designed solution.
Another big red flag is when I see a ton of customer enhancements to a SAP implementation, I mean why purchase SAP if you then customize the heck out of it, you should then just get a hold of Bandwagon in Flames company to design a solution for you and bypass purchasing SAP entirely.

The world would be a better place if everything SAP was crushed into a million pieces and fired into the sun.

Can you wait 15 years and then fire away, I should be finished with everything SAP related by then.

You realize this is terrible though right? Every business does things differently and shouldn't have to change their practice due to system limitations. Especially with the ridiculous amounts of money they are paying for licensing.
SAP is like Microsoft SharePoint. It would of been dead years ago if not for the name recognition.

Maybe I could have worded my previous post better, but I think companies need to be more flexible and also communicate to their employees that there will be major changes in the way they utilize the SAP system and perform various tasks from how they are currently doing their day-to-day tasks.
Another part of the problem is that SAP salesmen make promises that the system can't deliver or isn't ready to deliver (I once met a salesmen who said that the SAP system was ready to deliver a concurrent employment solution when this solution was still on the drawing board in Germany). Suffice it to say, that particular SAP project was an unmitigated disaster.

Nobody got fired for going with SAP.
Or so the saying goes. SAP is the new IBM.

I've always equated advanced stats to being as useful as the FoxTrax glowing puck tracking system in the 90's.

What a ridiculous statement. Advanced stats are awesome, or at least some of them. Some are good in theory (corsi) but the method for calculating corsi and fenwick is inaccurate. They use proxies as opposed to actual data. This should change with the puck chips in the future.

I've noticed that some of the reports on NHL.com stats page that I used to like to look at are not available any more.

1000% agree it so similar to a frustrating piece of software we use at work.
NHL com go back 2 years ago was a great source for current and past stats. Now it is a dog.

The only thing I like about the nhl stats page is renaming corsi and fenwick to SAT and uSAT. Other than that the combinations of war-on-ice and hockeystats.ca are my go-to sites.
In particular hockeystats.ca's gametracking is really good and I love that Johnny Gaudreau shows up in their events listing as JohnnyHockey where everyone else in the league is last name, first name.

News has been out for a few weeks that this is a problem, you guys seem very familiar with the issues, NHL employees themselves are stating its no good.. Is the NHL doing anything about it?
I'm surprised no law suit has come up from the NHL trying to get out of their deal.
What's the plan going forward? Is the NHL going to allow this to continue?
