Because the shootout is a great indicator of good goaltending..!?
Just take a look at the greatest goalie to ever put a Flames jersey on's record in the shootout.
You probably don't need to cause we all know how terrible Kipper was in the shootout!
I'm sick of everyone giving up on this team so early. I know they have been terrible but give them the benefit of the doubt that they can right the ship!
This is a better version of the same team that came back from losing 8 straight to make the playoffs last year!
The skaters are starting to play better and fit into their roles...
There is no denying we could use another top 6 forward and steady goaltending but give Ortio a chance to prove he can or cannot provide the latter... and don't let the shootout make that determination for you!
GFG!!

Vancouver - Price
Edmonton - Price
Calgary - Condon
... is embarrassing. We really are THAT team again this year. Oy...

I think Cali Panthers Fan should get his name changed back if the Flames win tonight! Write ups are too good to be having Panthers in your name.

Nothing to do with the Flames, if the Habs went to Calgary first the Flames would have seen Price and the Oilers would have seen Condon.

If we get beat tonight, my Oiler fan buddies will be insufferable.
Please boys, win this one for all of us with Oiler buddies.
I'm going to be out with them tonight at a pub that will likely have this game too!

No way you could actually know that.
Leading up to the game yesterday, it was looking like Condon was going to start against the Oilers.

Yeah my mom offered me tickets and I said I'd go if she can't find someone else. The 3 other games I've been to so far we got absolutely spanked and lost by 3 or 4 goals. It's not fun. Montreal is in town and tickets seem to be going for Face.
Hopefully they build on the last game. They need a win streak NOW.

Could be. But if the Flames were playing as we expected them to (based on last year), and the Oilers were playing as we expected them to (based on life) I'm pretty sure the Canadiens would be working their schedule to make sure they were giving Price the correct night off.
Not that this is 100% that Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver were considered and they thought 'put Condon against the Flames'... but it at least shows that they were just as concerned about sitting Price against us as they were the Oilers.
...who we all agree are awful.

The Habs fans will be insufferable if the Flames stumble out of the gate. Let's hope Bennett has his mojo and the defense learns how to defend again.
Is a two game winning streak this weekend too much to ask?

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

Noticed you were conveniently nowhere to be found during the GT & PGT vs Ottawa where you predicted a 2-6 win for the Flames.
Good job cursing the Flames with your birthday mojo.

Whatever. This team was at it's best when no one expected anything from them last year. If they get to play Condon as opposed to the best goalie in the league then I don't care if we are THAT team again

Price - .936 / 2.01 GAA
Condon - .947 / 1.50 GAA
What's embarrassing?

I think we can win this game if we don't stand around in the D-zone watching Habs fire bullets from the slot. I hope Monahan gets going and I hope Byron's bad luck on breakaways continues.

Can't believe so many have lost faith in our goaltenders. Ortio wasn't great in the shootout but he's also coming in late and didn't have a lot of chances to feel the puck.
I lurk more than I post but lately it's crazy on here.
"We need Ortio, he's our saviour" lost that game
"We need Brodie, he's our saviour" lost that game
Next it's going to be who? Gillies? McDonald?
This team is better than last years team, we just don't have chemistry yet. We will, I have faith. If it doesn't come tonight, it better come tomorrow night.

No matter how you look at it if the Flames lose back to back games to the Habs and Oilers it could be a lowpoint for this franchise and major embarrassment for fans. On the flip side back to back wins would do a lot for the team's confidence and the mental state of fans.

It's not that hopeful considering it'll be their 4th and 5th games in 7 nights. Absolutely brutal part of the schedule
