FIRESIDE CHAT EPISODE 106: SPECIAL TEAMS WOES
The Flames special team woes continue, and may have cost the Flames two games this week. We’ll discuss who we think might be between the pipes for the Calgary Flames next season, and what trade value Jiri Hudler might have after his poor season so far. FIRESIDE CHAT EPISODE 107: ALL-STAR AFTERMATH
Both our hosts were pleasantly surprised by the 2016 NHL All-Star Game. We discuss the Pacific Division win, the new 3 on 3 format, and what changes we’d like to see to the game/weekend in the future.
As the league gets back to regular season play after a short break we look back at the last 2 games the Flames played before the break and look ahead at the upcoming games for the week and what Dennis Wideman’s fate will be after his hearing.
The Stockton Heat unveiled a black alternate uniform, modelled after the Calgary Flames jersey design. Will a black uniform see the light of day in Calgary next season?
All this and more in our post all-star break episode.

FIRESIDE CHAT EPISODE 108: GOODBYE MASON RAYMOND
Even after a good week with 2 of 3 possible wins, The Flames once again find themselves closer to winning the Draft Lottery than the Stanley Cup, and things are getting tense. Coach Harley left the ice early after a practice where the team wasn’t showing the effort they need to be – and Bouma and Monahan showed up late. With Mason Raymond not playing his best the Flames reassigned him to the AHL this week, and brought Jakub Nakladal up to fill in for Wideman (who is suspended 20 games).
We recap the last week of hockey and look ahead to another ‘do or die’ week for the Flames, and predict how they will do. Plus we’ll cover some trade rumours and other news and discussion for the C of Red this week.

FIRESIDE CHAT EPISODE 109: BREAKING TEAM RULES
After a week that saw a lot of interesting Flames scratches including 2/3 of the top line for ‘breaking team rules’, the discussion on this show mostly revolves around the injuries this week, including one to starting goalie Kari Ramo and how those affected the team this week. Will the Flames injuires mean call-ups for some of the prospects in Stockton to join Nakladal? We answer an email question asking why we aren’t being more critical of the Flames this year, and we look ahead to what’s coming up next week.

It was nice to answer an email on the show for the first time. We would like more people to throw ideas/questions/comments at us.

FIRESIDE CHAT EPISODE 110: LET THE SELLING BEGIN
We’re recording one week before the NHL Trade Deadline and hours after welcoming Hunter Shinkaruk to the organization. The Calgary Flames are no doubt going to be sellers this week, but how much will they sell, and what will they get back? Our conversation revolves around our predictions for the trade deadline and who will and won’t be wearing a Flaming C on March 1.

Hard to listen when the two guys are so far apart in volume, you guys need to work on those audio levels. The one guy is like twice as loud as the other guy.

Thanks for the feedback. We'll see if our editor can re-render this week's show. Sounded okay when we did a preview of it earlier, we may have uploaded the wrong revision, but we'll look into it.

There's this weird thing that happens where Dan directs a statement/question to Matt and he doesn't reply? Then after awkward pause Dan keeps talking. Is this an audio issue? Thanks.
I do like the insight you guys provide especially on prospects.

EPISODE 111: RETOOLING AT THE DEADLINE
The 2016 NHL Trade Deadline is over and we’ve had time to reflect on all the happenings. We’ll dig into each of the trades the Flames made and our thoughts on how much the Flames have improved. Dan calls the Flames out on the similarities between the David Jones deal and the Michael Cammalleri “no deal” of the past. Was Garnet Hathaway the best player to get called up? This episode is full of all of the latest news and opinions on the Trade Deadline and the Flames position after it was done.

EPISODE 112: SHAKING UP THE LINES
Joni Ortio picked up his first win of the season during a good week for the Flames, in which they earned 3 of a possible 6 points. This week Flames fans got to see some different forward lines and defensive pairings than usual, which we’ll discuss our thoughts on.
After having a terrible start to the season, Joni Ortio has emerged as the Flames starting goalie. Will he remain the starter for the remainder of the season? Who plays more games from here on out – Hiller or Backstrom?
We’ll make our predictions on who the Flames use their last 2 call-ups on, and what will happen on the blueline this week when Wideman returns.
Plus we give our thoughts on the World Cup format, the new uniforms, what this means for the future of the NHL at the Olympics and more.

EPISODE 113: FINALLY HEATING UP
Where has this version of the Flames been all year? The team had an excellent week on the ice and have been a lot of fun to watch. Who do we project to make the NHL roster next year and who might the team let go?

FIRESIDE CHAT EPISODE 114: THE FINAL 9
Happy Easter! This week’s show covers a whole range of topics including recapping the Flames week of hockey playing at just over .500, our thoughts on moving the NHL Entry Draft age up to 19 and why it’s more difficult to do than most people think, how a loop hole prevents Gaudreau from being ineligible to get an offer sheet as an RFA, our thoughts on the expansion draft and more Flames news and notes including looking ahead to the final nine games of the season.

EPISODE 115: GETTING A LOOK AT THE KIDS
With Johnny Gaudreau, Josh Jooris, and Jykri Jokipakka out with injuries this week it lead to Derek Grant, Hunter Shinkaruk, Emile Poirier, and Brett Kulak being recalled from Stockton on an emergency basis. We'll recap how all four kids looked in their first game of this recall and Dan and Matt disagree over who we might see back in Calgary next season, and in what role.
Former 2012 1st round draft pick Mark Jankowski and the Flames are expected to seal a deal this week, and the Flames are a front runner for European UFA Daniel Pribyl. We debate the merits of burning the first year of a contract, and if it's worth going after European free agents with the Flames track record recently with European UFAs.
We look ahead to the next week and predict if the Flames can finally break the 'Honda Center Curse' or if they'll end up in the history books for the wrong reasons.

EPISODE 116: A WIN TO REMEMBER
79 games down, 3 to go in this up-and-down season! After a big blow out in Anaheim this week the Flames were able to get a big win over the Oilers in the last Battle of Alberta ever to be played in Rexall Place.
We look at Mark Jankowski's first few games in Stockton and how all of the players recalled to Calgary over the last week have played, and who we think might stick around into next season. What will Shinkaruk's role be long term with the Flames?
The guys ask each other "why are you still watching the Flames?" and we discuss some of the interesting storylines still unfolding for the team, and we also throw out a hypothetical and ask if the Flames should make a play for Yakupov or Nikushkin to help on the Right Wing.
And we play our last Prediction Game of the season. Who will end up winning this season's game?

FIRESIDE CHAT EPISODE 117: BOOK YOUR TEE TIME BOYS!
The 2015-2016 season has come to an end and we spend the show looking back the season that was. It’s been an interesting season with a lot to discuss. What happened to the “Always Earned, Never Given” mantra? We’ll debate how we expect the Flames roster to change – who comes, who goes, and who gets resigned? Should Bob Hartley be back? We talk about a lot of different topics as we wrap up the regular season.
