I think the first two lines will see Hudler/Folik may be flip flopped on the RW. Ferland perhaps up to 3rd line and then Jones as the expensive 4th liner. As center whether Bennett gets bigger minutes or be sheltered on the 3rd line we will see. I like to see Backlund there for now.

How about Wilson with Brodie, and Engelland being the 7th D or play some forward?

Engelland really played well down the stretch last season. He deserves to start in the top 6 unless he has a brutal camp.

Wilson and Nakladal are my darkhorse picks to unseat some guys this year. I know Wilson is on a PTO but before he got injured a lot he was really on an upswing. Really keen to see if he can get it all back on track.
Which sucks because I want Wotherspoon to have a monster camp and earn a full time spot but there;s a strong vet presence this year. Tough Muntain to climb

This is how I'd have the pairs. I say if you have two guys who can carry a top line, put them on different lines. Gio and Brodie don't need each other to be great, splitting them up spreads the wealth and makes the overall D better, can always put them back together as needed. You'll always have one fresh for the PP or PK and the worst D pairing is somewhere between a weak 1st pair and a great second pair.
3 LHD and 3 RHD, how can a coach resist?

I would hope to see PP lines such as
Gio-Brodie
Hamilton-Wideman
or,
Gio-Wideman
Brodie-Hamilton

From what I've heard Brodie prefers the right side to the left.
Brodie's production prior to the Giordano injury: 35 points in 61 games. 47 point pace.
After the Gio injury, paired with Engelland: 6 points in his final 20 games. 25 point pace.
Brodie-Engelland keeps Engelland above water but it craters Brodie's offensive production. Don't see why his game should be stifled like that in order to babysit someone who gets eaten alive when he plays with bottom pairing guys.
This is why I hope someone else makes the top 6. Prospect, PTO or Nakladal.

Should be really interesting camp...
Who is the 7th & 8th Dman?
Which Goalie gets waived?
Flames have to many forwards.... Should be interesting to see the final cuts

Seems kinda odd that McDonald gets a practice before playing Nieuwendyk... who practices AFTER the game.
I know it's scrimmage, but still weird.

Here's a good article written by Kent Wilson about his opinions on the defensive pairs. I would probably go with
Hamilton-Giordano
Brodi-Russell/Wideman
Russel/Wideman-Nakladal/Wilson
Nakladal/Wilson
Move Engelland to forward and waive Bollig if we have to keep one junk player for "toughness".

The first two drills were break in on the wing and fire it at the goalie and a 2 on 0 version of that as a give and go.

Brodie and Engelland are wearing grey jerseys and neither are skating particularly fast.
Johnny and Mony look good.
