That one clip where he comes back and skates past Giordano to eliminate a scoring chance, very impressive closing speed.

He's one of those players who's worth the price of admission all by himself. He's not as cagey as Giordano yet but what skills. It stands to reason that with our 3 Right shooting rearguards that he'll be moved away from Giordano but they sure work well together.

That's what I was thinking to. Brodie is the kind of player we all expected JayBo to be when he came to Calgary. He actually was that kind of guy in Florida but for whatever reason regressed as soon as he stepped foot in Calgary.

I was all for breaking up Brodano to spread around the offence after we got Hamilton. But after watching that video, there is no way we should do that. Those 2 are so special together. Fingers crossed Gio can play a full healthy season.

I'll never forget one of Hartley's interviews where he said that Brodie has no idea how good he can be. And here he is. A legit top pairing guy who might very well be our #1 one day.

And the fact he has a 4.6 cap hit for the next 5 years? Most of us would have been happy with 6. IMO Treliving's best signing to date.

The only thing holding Brodie back is his awful shot. Watch the video and count how many of his goals are flubbed shots that truck everyone on the ice. That overtime winner was a backhand that went up and off Rask's head and into the net.

His skating is elite, his stick positioning is elite, his positioning is also elite. He could stand to be a bit stronger, but it hasn't really hampered him. In the end it's his skating that makes him the great defenseman he is, but unless his shot improves he'll never be that great offensively

I agree Pharmacist. I imagine if there's one thing Brodie was told to work on it was his shot. If he improves that in any significant capacity, we have a deadly weapon.

FWIW Hartley mentioned that Brodie has a great shot. The only issue is that he never uses it. At the start of last season he was using it and having success. Then he stopped the point shots once again. I suppose it's because Giordano has a better shot so he feels the need to pass or just throw it in traffic.

Brodie's shot is quite accurate. It's just not very hard. If he could develop a heavier shot, he'd be deadly.
