I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

No, don't get a skateboard. Man, I hate this attitude from skaters. I've been skateboarding since 1986 (started on a banana board with rollerskate wheels bolted to it) and I love how the sport has branched out in recent years. I have three skateboards now and they all do different things. Back in the day there was only really one type, but things are better today. Right now, I'm having the most fun on my longboard, but I still ride my skate and work on new tricks, too.

Longboards are better for transportation than skateboards. It's just a fact. They are more stable, which is much better for a full-grown lady that wants to ride downtown while dressed in her work clothes versus a skateboard. She's not going to be sliding rails on her way out of the office or hitting Millennium Park on her way home. She wants to get from A to B, probably while minimizing her chance of falling.

Skateboards are way sketchier than longboards and it's terrible advice to tell her to buy one for what she wants to do. It's a great way to get her disinterested in the sport.

Any good areas to longboard. I do a lot in west fish creek but looking for new areas. I've been boarding for about a year, just trying to learn to slide and do some speed checks now (which really looks like me turning fast off the path and falling, but I'm getting better at it).

I got the Razor A5 Lux scooter. That's the one with the bigger wheels. It folds up for easy storage and carrying, although it won't quite fit in my messenger bag.

Must say, it was quite the hit with grannies down at the park this morning. More than a few wanted to try it. Regular adults of course, were full of disdainful glances. Meh. Screw 'em! It was loads of fun, and is about 3 times faster than walking.

Good for you!

Can you believe people with the disdainful looks? Man, people can't stand watching somebody do something fun sometimes. I don't get that attitude. If you scooted past me while I was walking, I'd feel like the chump.

I like to cruise through Confederation Park. If you want to practice on hills, there are lots off to the side. Otherwise the paths through the middle have a nice easy grade.

Wish I could help you, but I'm not sure. Every time I go I'm with my wife, a 9 year old and a 7 year old so we're not picking the coolest spots. We just cruise along Fish Creek Park paths and that's it for now. When I'm by myself I'm just using it for transportation and not looking for anything particularly cool.

I went to Europe last year, and noticed that quite a few people were using kick scooters for their daily commute. A lot of them were dressed in business suits, which I thought was pretty cool.

But if you're looking for a motorized option, watch this video. Skip to 1:42 for the reviews.

I take my golfboard to work on nice days all the time. Not sure how easy I would be in the city to do though.

Those scroosers are cool, but pretty pricey for an electric scooter.

I believe that in order to purchase a scooter, you need to sign a contract promising to get a hipster haircut within 24 hrs
