Fair contract but I don't know if he's long for this team as I could see him dealt at some point in the season.

Jooris was one of our best PKers last year, and chipped in with some scoring before the wrist injury. Great fit in Hartley's system IMO. He also had a crucial goal in the shootout against Boston (backhand roof on Rask). If he doesn't score, the Flames lose and "The Schlemko" never happens...

If he can duplicate that this year, he'll be in a position to get some more salary and term for next year's contract.

Good value for a depth guy.

Great deal. Happy that they avoided arbitration. Jooris was one of my favorites last year. A one year deal is perfect for both parties. I wonder if his next contract will be a multi-year deal.

weeee.

He started of great but fell off pretty hard as the year went on. I think that the Jooris we saw later in the season is the real Jooris.

David Moss potential maybe?

I think it's some where in between, wrist injury generally affect offensive production a lot more than defensive responsibilities, but his numbers were inflated at the start of the season playing with Johnny and Hudler.

Also the Churros thing just randomly started on Hf I believe. Just kinda like it as a nickname, little bit different than most hockey nicknames

Again, for like the 100th time: Significant wrist injury that he played through for more than half the season. He still skated his guts out every night.

Also his work ethic is perfect for this team, here's a quote from when he first got called up this season

Quote:
I just try to work as hard as I can. I was averaging maybe 12 minutes a game in pre-season. That's 12 minutes of work if you think about it, so put it in that perspective it's not that much.

We shall see.

I have no doubts in his work ethic though.

Diff note:
I think Jooris was scratched a whole whack of times for maintenance reasons too, wasn't it? We had like a 3-4 press box rotation for injured players for a bit I think around January-March?.

Heal up Churros and show us you are staying in the NHL for good.

He showed things throughout in the season that were far from a fluke. Not just early but even later in the season he was a dog on the puck, an underrated passer, and able to produce breakaways out of the Dzone.

Later in the season look at who he was playing with... Glencross.. Raymond.. Colborne.. Bollig.. black holes.

Jooris showed chemistry with much of the team - Monahan, Hudler, Gaudreau, Granlund, Ferland, Backlund, Stajan - yet ends up playing with none of them as the year went on. Jooris wasn't the only one who saw this happen. Backlund got put in between Colborne and Raymond and that line was terrible too.

Because they were announced on the same day, I will be eagerly watching the goals/$ ratio for Jooris and Semin in 15-16.

Shouldn't need to unless Smid is healthy. Even then we shold have plenty going into season to add near deadline if need be. But I doubt we are major players at the deadline this year unless we are much better than expected.

Seems pretty straight forward, fair deal. Nothing but continued upside for Jooris. Would have liked to see 2 or 3 year term but not much can be criticised on this deal.

For the curious, it's a one-way (so he gets paid same in AHL and NHL) AND he is waiver eligible.

Great signing. I hope Jooris improves on his numbers, but even if he doesn't this is a solid signing.
