Note the type of player highlighted and our desperate need for them also

For me personally, it's the fact that his skill set (shot, skating, hands) is actually fairly decent considering that he's a giant. Yes, he has things to work on, but if he can reach his potential then watch out.

Players with his combination of skill and size don't come around very often.

Voted hunter Smith. I'd have went Culkin but Smith has serious potential to be a game changer if his JR game can transition well to the AHL. We'll see this year.

I guess I just haven't seen this "game changing" potential from him so far. He has a pretty long way to go to be an NHL regular, most notably his skating seems pretty average to below average. The NHL is so fast these days that even average skaters have a tough time making it.

The Winners win theory... Losers get to golf in the spring

sort of like Baertschi and Backlund the season after they were drafted They were in the top 3-4 forwards for a very successful playoff run to the memorial cup. I think that it is important to have the ability to contribute at a high level in important games.

Top players from top programs.... Hudler, Gaudreau, Yelle, Tanguay, Bouma Kris Russell , Brodie (last year in Jr.) rather than players from the Leafs and Panthers.... Hagman, Stajan, White, Bouw, Jokinen, Stempniak

I feel that is 90% of the CP love for Jankowski, Gillies, Hickey players that were important to teams that were doing well in important games.

Somehow the love skipped Arnold and Gilmour

Arnold seems pretty well liked on this board tbf. Just that his ceiling isn't as high as some others.

Agreed. Monahan and Bennett's junior teams sucked so 90% of the CP hates them.

so is this a run off? Seems like it to me. Margin is only 8 votes and Jankowski won a run off with less of a margin.

81-71 at this point. I would just give it to Culkin and move along. It's not like its within 2-4 votes.

Monahan 15 pts in 18 playoff games run in the OHL as a 16 year old..... Important player on a good team in important games.

Bennett's team's always made the playoffs... He had 15 pts in his 15 playoff games.....

These guys were not Bouwmeester who in his 3 years as a great player in Medicine Hat never played in a playoff game.
