I'm just going to assume that the Oilers ruined another first rounder.

Lol, not even really close. It is perhaps Pelech or Chucko bad, but there are more players in the late 1st round that don't pan out than do. Fata was a different story completely.

Would he not have the option to play in Switzerland, Germany or Sweden for a decent half mil salary? I haven't followed his career recently, so maybe he has already been doing that.

Yup, and if Arnold worms his way onto this team, which I think he will, then we could have 6 Sutter draft picks figuring prominently in the organization. And not much filler either, these players are beauties.

Again, I think it comes down to injury concerns more than anything else.

He could probably still be playing, but it'd be high-risk for small dollars.

Yeesh. Pelech, Chucko, Nemisz. What a dismal string of 1st round picks. Imagine where we'd be if the list read Stasny, Krejci, Ennis (all picks taken after these guys in their respective drafts).

Dare to dream ...

Maybe he did have offers like that, but being able to move into a coaching role at 25 could be an been better opportunity live not term. Maybe he gets 5, 6, 7 more years bouncing around Europe.. A coaching career could set him up long term.

Nemisz had a knee injury that kept him out of the 2014-15 season from December on. In May, he had announced he was ahead of schedule for his rehab and would be ready for training camp.

According to the Checkers, he was assisting their coaches during the season and once that season concluded, he had some contacts in the Oshawa organization and started assisting them in coaching as was part of the Oshawa Memorial Cup run.

Honestly, I can't blame the guy. 3 years you get cut short due to injury after having a great start. If someone comes along and offers you a job still in hockey and as a coach, it would be hard to pass it up after going through all that.

Good for him. I'm sure he'll enjoy it. Maybe we'll see him in the league in 10 years or so.

Good luck Greg. Thank you for shunning the Oilers.

Shunning the Oilers is its own reward.

Ya, it's an interesting look back, but honestly looking at this team now, we have the roster that others should be daring to dream of.

At least we know how to draft beyond the first round
