Our arena district should include a 'Doc Seaman Square' and the 'Hotchkiss Centre' (or whatever, but something). I think it would be classy to honor them somehow in the new development, being two of the key cogs in the ownership group that is the reason we have a team to begin with.

I know we already have the Harley Hotchkiss Park in the city, but this would be much more closely associated with the team.

It's really not, given that the area is undevelopable in its current state.

I did hear King say an entertainment district was planned, but that was a few years ago. He compared it to what they have in LA and Glendale.

I think it looks pretty sweet. Way too modern and upscale for Winnipeg, but still sweet.
Thanks for sharing it.

Cool video. Thanks for sharing. Always interesting to see what other teams or cities are doing.

Wow, I'm surprised at the negativity in this thread. It's like any time a cool downtown project that can revitalize an urban area in a Canadian city (other than Calgary) is a poor idea at best and a disaster at worst. I think the project looks cool, would love to see it progress.

The design looks pretty cool actually where they've provided a bowl-like shape that will shield the wind. If the architects have really stretched themselves the required twenty or thirty 1.5M btu Herman-Nelson's will be seamlessly encorporated to the design.

It's cool to crap on Winnipeg (and Jets fans).

Not all Jets fans. Just certain ones who's only real purpose on FOI is to try and pump up how great Winnipeg is, usually with implied arguments about how awful Calgary is.

I quite like Winnipeg, actually. My family is from there, and I've visited many times.

However, I don't visit Jets forums with the near exclusive purpose of bragging about how great Calgary is in comparison. That would be insecure, that is what you do, and that is why the first four responses you got were what they were.

Go ahead and look at threads I've started on foi. You're being dramatic . my last thread was a Flames nation article praising the Flames draft.

Now now, let's all be friends here and admit that Edmonton is the real loser here.

You shall not be forgiven for being a dramatic dipper! ...jokes. Cool video. That would be awesome for Winnipeg. Love seeing Canadian sports cities upping the ante with things like this. Not like it'll stop us from getting our kick ass arena project. Hell, I hope it speeds it up.

It might be if it weren't for the massive amounts of creosote contamination that "cannot be remediated". The Calgary Flames will not own that land out right, book it.
