Why would the PA care? They get 50% of HRR regardless. Just more money for othe players.

it's not the same. Horton will probably also never play again, but Pronger is so clearly retired that he even has a nice job with the NHLs Safety Department. His contract should not be allowed to be used to get to the floor, but oh well ... it is what it is. Arizona is going to tank hard next season.

I thing a big difference between Pronger and Horton is that Prongers contract is insured and Horton couldn't be insured. Phoenix takes on the cap hit and has to pay nothing while Toronto has to pay actual cash for the Horton contract.

Bill Daly says NHL consulted on and approved Pronger trade. Also, if #Flyers buy out Gagner, they impact #TBLightning's salary cap.
