I realize that Reinhart was overrated when he was drafted, but honestly, the kid has a LOT of potential still. Skating can be improved to a certain extent. This is still a good deal for the Oilers if they're trying to get better ASAP, which really should be the goal at this point.

Renhart might be okay, he should make it but there are red flags with him.
It's just interesting how much better the Flames trade looks in comparison to this.

D-men taken after Reinhart at 4 in 2012: Rielly, Lindholm, Trouba, Dumba, Maatta. That Garth Snow is as cagy as it gets.

Overpayment for a guy who IMO will top out as a serviceable top 4/6 guy. Don't get me wrong, he's a good prospect but I'd be furious if Treliving paid that for him. Just shows the difference in skill between the two managers when Calgary has to pay only slightly more for Hamilton than Edmonton did for Reinhart. Proven and improving vs. untested prospect is a huge difference and we didn't have to pay a premium. What a great day. Edmonton can keep McDavid, we have Treliving.

One thing is for sure though. He'll look like Orr playing next to Schultz.

15 and 16 picks are tight
33 vs 45 and 52 almost sounds like the package it would take to move up (45/52 for 33) so really it's damn close to saying the package for G. Reinhart is close to the package for Hamilton.
Unreal deal by Calgary because I don't mind this one for Edmonton.

Heart is a huge question mark for Reinhart.

‘This R2 unit has a bad motivator!’
‘Hey, what are you trying to pull here? …We'll take it anyway. Nobody will notice if we paint it blue.’

I'm looking forward to watching this trade be singled out for years to come as another example of oilers incompetence at its best, especially with who went at 16.

Oilers are running out of time. They have a long ways to go, can't wait 5 years for a possible stud D to develop. They need impact now, before the $12M/20 year deal to McSaviour happens 3 years from now. They need impact and can't continue sucking to it, they're already in tough as their cap isn't in good shape, and will get worse quickly.
Their incompetence in spite of this unjust lottery win will continue. They have big holes to fill and quickly. Even with McGod I like our balance much better, especially if a above average consistent goaltender shows up next year.

I love how the Oilers managed to take two prime assets and not solve any of their problems with them. Reinhart has proven nothing and he certainly can't be counted on to be a top 4 Dman yet, if ever. What's up next? 2016 1st? Maybe they can trade that for Matt Dumba or something.
Loved Katz Jr., MacT and Lowe at the draft table. Nothing has changed.

Haven't followed Reinhart since he was drafted, but getting a former 4th overall pick only 3 years ago for a 16th and a second seems like a great deal for Edmonton. He clearly has the pedigree, so maybe a change of scenery helps here. I think this is a win for the Oilers but we'll see pretty quickly here as I suspect Edmonton will give him every opportunity to play in the NHL this year.

Solid young player for sure. But they need a Hamilton. Or a Brodie. Or a Giordano. Hell, even a Wideman or a Russell. A guy like Dumba is going to be developed on a team with other great defenseman. On a team like Edmonton, he'd get Phaneuf'd IMO. Love the direction they're taking compared what they could be doing. Their top 4 and goalie situation looks to be a hot mess for the foreseeable future.

Only the oilers could have a draft where they get the best player in I don't even know how many years and still piss off their fans.

From what I've read, he looked terrible in the AHL and he can't skate very well. I think there's a good chance Reinhart was drafted too high and Snow is cashing in before the value keeps dropping.

Reinhart was traded for simply because of his success with the Oil Kings, not because he has risen as a potential NHL defenseman. The Oilers continue to sell hopes and promises, regardless of who is supposedly running the show up there.
