Wow -- based on first place votes, Ekblad was the clear winner.

If this just drives Johnny harder then so be it! Congrats to Ekblad, what a player.

Johnny deserved it in my opinion. So damn dynamic and created so much out there.

I definitely think it was eastern bias.

Glad stone didn't win. At least the Flames have Calder trophy winners in the past, nice for the organization to get a Jack Adams!

Well Sam Bennett, looks like you'll have to be the next Flames Calder winner since Sergei Markov.

Why all the hate for Stone? He had a fantastic season and deserves as much credit as Ekblad or Johnny.

I figured Stone would win it. Guess their equal point total led to a vote split?

Such a joke.

Should just make it the youngest nhler award.

Ekblad had an amazing season for an 18 year old defender, but he wasn't the best rookie or even rookie defensemen this season. That award needs to re-focus on it's own criteria.

Cause he's played parts of like 4 seasons in the NHL before this year. Ekblad and Johnny are playing their first year of pro hockey. More "legitimate" rookies.

To be fair, Pastrnak was the youngest NHL player this season.

Yeah you could definitely make the case for Klingberg as best rookie defenseman. But the Eastern bias thing is nonsense. At least in respect of the win... bias is clearly the only reason why Hayes managed to finish 7th. Wtf?

The results are moronic.
Johnny created more buzz in the media than Stone and Eckblad all season long.
Sucks that Johnny doesn't get his deserved name etched in NHL history.
Oh well for the next following years every GM will wish they drafted him and HC's will be saying damn i wish we had that kid
Ok here is what we are going to do to try and stop him tonight.

Quite simply: Horse####.

Congratulations to Ekblad, great performance as an 18 year old defenseman. But Gaudreau finishing a distant 3rd is ridiculous.

Ekblads a reasonable choice 18 year old defensemen deserve to get it as it's pretty rare.

His age is supposed to have as much to do with the award as Johnnys size.

I fail to see how this lights a fire under Johnny's arse.

To me it shows he worked his balls off, was a key cog in a team that the experts said had no business finishing above 27th yet was fighting for home ice on the last day of the regular season. He was on the ice during important minutes be it up a goal protecting the lead, down a goal needing to tie (not to mention on countless occasions scoring that much needed goal).

If you want to say "oh an 18 year old defencemen on a team that misses the playoffs is soooo rare" then so is a 4 foot 8 forward who battles in the corners and walks away with a goal.

THEN to have Stone as 2nd? What in the sweet hell?

If Hartley lost the Jack Adams I would have been sad, but not mad. This makes me mad.

I wholeheartedly believe in giving credit where credit is due. This is spitting in the face where credit is due. Third in voting. Wow. Just wow.

Absurd. Though I do appreciate the attitude most athletes that want to be the best display after losing out on something like this. I will take a guy with a chip on his shoulder over a rookie of the year award winner any day.
