True. Turning left or 180 degree is not that different when left turn light is on.
Just idiotic

When you say she can go before, does that mean after 3 weeks of getting the ticket ?..I dont think they can do much without ticket in their hand.

Clearly you've never been caught behind someone trying to do a u-turn when the left index light is going.

It doesn't make a difference if that person doing the u-turn is at the front of the queue, but if they are near the middle it messes everything up. The queue accelerates and gets up to speed, then the jackass who wants to do a u-turn applies the brakes because he's going too fast for the sharp turn and causes a chain reaction slowing the whole lane down. Also a huge chance of creating a fender bender as everyone expects you to keep going with the flow.

Obviously there's some processing time but people go early all the time and its never a problem.

That, and it can also have a negative effect for people trying to turn right to go the same direction as the u-turner as they usually take up 2+ lanes to accommodate the turn.

Annnndd (you'll like this one), it's an unpredictable action (and therefor an unsafe one) which can impact an emergency vehicle passing through the intersection. Quite often they will use the oncoming lanes into an intersection (the same ones the u-turner wants to drive into) if the current direction lanes are blocked. The u-turner wouldn't check his mirror and emergency vehicles wouldn't expect each the maneuver.

Ran into this video today, showing one scenario mentioned above why a u-turn is a bad idea.
