there seems to be a high number of really good players that will be available to us at 15, so I am hoping Calgary simply sticks to the order and they don't trade away picks in order to jump up the order...
i mean unless proronov or Werenski drop out of the top ten, it would be tough to trade a pick in a draft of this depth unless you thought it was an absolute lock that a kid was going to pan out...

I hope the Oilers take the goalie.
I also want Conor Garland with a 2nd or 3rd rounder.
Dude put up Drouin type numbers as a 19 year old and led the QMJHL in scoring (led his team by 34 points) and isn't on Mckenzies list.
Don't care how small he is if he is as talented as Gaudreau, and outscored Eichel when he was on the same team as a 16 year old. Plus he shoots Right, can be our Right Sided tiny player on the 2nd line.

I don't do mock drafts. Connor, ranked No. 13, along with Meier, ranked No. 12, are best bets to unseat someone in the top 10.

I haven't really seen a lot of these prospects live, especially not enough to make a fair decision, but when I read about Merkley, he sounds similar to Sam Bennett in a lot of ways, with maybe less offense.

Really high on Timo Meier and if he is available at 10, i would love to see us package to move up. Big, high compete level, goal scorer from the wing. Sounds like the right piece for another tenacious pain in the ass we drafted last year.

I don't do scouting or read prospect reports out of the top 20, but for as "deep" as this draft is, just clicking on random names in the No 40-75 and I see lots of 3rd line and bottom pairing defenseman for projections, and NHL comparables like Wiercioch and Andrew Desjardins. I don't see how thats 2003 draft comparable for depth?

Would trade up for Rantanen or Meier, but don't think the Flames will have a dance partner.

Based partly on Buttons list, I see Boeser going much earlier then his #26 ranking.
I could also see a team taking a shot at Kylington a lot earlier than #24

Because when someone uses the word deep it doesn't automatically go right to the 2003 draft as a comparison. Where did you see that comparison, who has said this draft is similar to 2003?
It's deeper then most, not deeper then one of the best drafts ever.

As well, "deep" to me means a lot of players that will actually play in the NHL, regardless of lines or projections.

I think I read it somewhere, but I have no idea... I'm actually just starting to get caught up with whats going on. Just trying to figure out where the "tiers" or "cliffs" are, and maybe guess what kind of guys we can get with our 2nd round pick.

If Werenski drops to 11 or 12, I would love to trade 15 +52 or 53 for 11 or 12.
Might even do 15+ 45 to get Werenski

McKenzie seems to have gone more 'mainstream' with his ranking than Button. Button has Brock Boeser as a top 10 pick. Whoa. He's also not very high on Hanifin. Compares Provorov to Giordano.
This is a good crop of players for the Flames specific needs: RW & D. One of Rantanen, Svechnikov, Merkley, Meier, Konecky or Boeser would be great for the team going forward.
I'm hoping Sprong and Kylington fall to the 2nd round so we can have a shot at them. I think they both have too much talent to pass on, but are too risky to be 1st rounders.

I would be very happy with Boeser at 15.
