I think Hartley likes Klimchuk. Doesn't mean he'll make the team but he may have a shot.
If Wolf can get his skating and stamina up, he could have a chance.

Billy "tough minutes" Arnold. Someone will have to be traded for him find room though. Doesn't look like there's going to be much normal turnover up front

I think the more interesting question is how we make room for the players we have now.
Assuming we re-sign our RFAs in Backlund, Jooris, Shore, Bouma, and Ferland... while not bringing Byron back (though I like him, we just don't have room as it stands):
Gaudreau - Monahan - Hudler
Bennett - Backlund - Colborne
Bouma - Stajan - Jones
Ferland - Jooris - Shore
Granlund
Bollig
Raymond
Ferland, Shore, and Jooris would all require waivers to go down. Granlund doesn't I believe so he'd be the odd man out by default.
There's always some turnover, roughly 25% I believe statistically.
Bollig stepped up well in the playoffs, but I wouldn't mind seeming him unloaded to make room for Ferland specifically. Raymond has also played his way off the team as it stands. I'd prefer to see a younger and hungrier player take his spot (Granlund, Poirier, etc.)

Forgot we had Morrison! Maybe he doesn't make it next year but hopefully makes an appearance

i'd like to think morrison, wotherspoon, arnold make a strong case.
I would love to see ferland make a case for more than a grinding/punishing 4th liner role. He's got the hands, if he can figure it out, it would be amazing to have him evolve to a top 6 or 9 winger.

How about Kenny Agostino?
Big enough, fast enough, smart enough....and finished the season really strong. Roughly point per game over the last three months.

Guys who had better numbers in the AHL this year than Jooris did last year: Agostino, Poirier, Reinhart, Wolf, Arnold, Hathaway, Elson and Cundari.

OK, I'll play.
I predict that the Canucks 2nd round pick makes the Flames on opening night, and contributes. (Ala Bergeron, O Rielly) And it goes down in history as one of the best trades the Flames have ever made.
C'mon Treliving. Make that pick count.

Good post. I just don't really like that as an opening night roster. Bollig should be in. Over the years we have seen where Stajan/Backlund in key roles gets you. Still need to add a top6 and a bottom6 forward to that and then maybe you have got something. Granlund played very well early in last season when Baxklund and Stajan were hurt. Flames winning % in those months shows it. I don;t care what they do. JUST WIN.

My safe bet would be no one, and my very bold prediction would be Elson.

There is so much heart and determination in him, and he plays the game with the same attitude as some of the Flames other breakout players: Bouma, Ferland, Jooris.
At every level I have seen him play at he looks like a player destined to make his way onto an NHL roster out of pure will and determination. If Bouma and Ferland continue their upward progressions towards 3rd liners, Elson would be a perfect fit on the 4th set. He will give you hard working minutes every chance he gets.

I would say Poirier or Morrison, but I am actually kind of expecting one of them to make it.
I'll go with Wolf.

I think some of us are going to be surprised with a few trades this off season. Bruins and Blackhawks will be perfect candidates because of their cap situations. I can see a top six forward and top 4 defenseman.

Not sure if unexpected or not, but I expect Shore to stick
